Okay, this is it. The LAST GO with the EVH 5150. It's already back in it's box ready to go away forever.
This time I used the sample settings that came with the pedal and left it at that.
And that's it. Blah.
Well dude, I ain't gonna lie here, these clips are better than the 1st round you posted, but about the same as the 2nd...I'm convinced that's just how that pedal is, & there ain't no dialing it out...
Actually seeing the settings makes me think that pedal is
very much like the EVH LBX amp I had, gobs & gobs of gain, even too much for me, which really says something...The only way I could get anything I liked from it is to turn the gain completely off, then adjust it in a small increments as possible...That was aggravating for me because it had so much gain & was just so sensitive to the slightest move/turn...
Now don't get me wrong, I like a lotta gain, & too much could be good, as long as the gain pot has enough sweep to be able to dial in as much/as little easily, but the EVH LBX v1 just didn't do that,
for me...
I think you just need to give that thing back to your buddy & call it done with that thing dude...Of course, that's just my

, but I'm not impressed with that pedal at all...
