rayc wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2017 8:40 am The 1st one definitely is bright. Mind you it's a tone I'd work hard to achieve and be happy as Larry I found. The 2nd with the shelf down certainly sounds more 'real" but it does lack the thud and bam of the guitar -> amp -> speaker-> mic connection.
I really just wanted to see how and if it would work. It's really no different from guys using processors into power amps so it's not like I broke any new ground. I've just never done anything like that myself.

I might try it again with a totally different amp sim. Maybe try a Mesa sound. I'll never own a high gain Mesa, I don't like Mesas, but I'll see what happens with a Mesa sim through a real power amp.

Another thing to keep in mind is that sims don't always replicate exactly what an amp does. Sounds obvious, but what I mean is, putting all the settings at the same number doesn't necessarilly mean they are the same. Like, you might have to turn down the treble a lot more on a sim, or somewhere around 2k might need a cut on a sim, etc....I'm sure I'm not telling anyone anything they don't already know, just mentioning it for the record.

Yeah I just wanted to see what would happen with as much being equal as I could. It definitely has to be treated as it's own entity.

Yeah, having said all that, those LePou Hybrits are pretty damn good sounding, for a sim.

I'd have thought a sim would be written to have the same internal interactions, (gain structure, EQ stacking etc etc) as the amp they seek emulate otherwise they aren't emulating the amp but a sound from the amp.

I got a Jubilee reissue coming to the house right now.

A friend of mine just bought one and he's bringing it over to check the bias and shit and give it a good thrash. He shreds. So I'll try to get some clips off of it.

That's definitely in need of some dominant Phrygian tapping :coolstorybro:

And he did a bunch of it.

I must say, I liked the way this Jubilee resissue sounds. It's WAY better than the originals I've played. Way better. Maybe there was something wrong with them? I thought they were harsh and mushy. This reissue sounds pretty sweet. We A/B'd it against my JCM 800. Not even a contest. The 800 murders the Jube...but for my buddy the Jubilee has more 80s shred gain and works better for him. :metal:

I found it's volume tipping point just past 6. It's almost like an on/off switch, which is authentic to the originals. After that it gets really raunchy, and loud, but up to 6 and it's not that bad at all. Master vol 6 on this Jubilee is about a 4 on the JCM 800 volume. 6 on the 800 and the walls are starting to peel paint. But on the Jube, 6 seemed just right. Maybe a little louder than modest gig volume, but workable. Gain on 8 was the most it'd do without getting mushy. Gain dimed was kind of a mess.

I got some noodling clips of my boy Chris. He sat and noodled for like an hour at big volume. My ears are pretty tired.

These are just random clips. I hit record as he was wailing away. He played my guitar. It's never been played like this before. I think it's sad now. :(

Les Paul Traditional
Marshall Jubilee 2555 reissue
Presence - 4
Bass - 6
Mid - 4.5
Treb - 5
Gain - 8
Lead channel vol - 10
Master vol - 6
Marshall 1960A 4x12 - Celestion Greenbacks
SM57 onaxis, on grill, halfway to edge.
No EQ or FX in DAW

First clip is with some delay..

This one has the "half power" engaged from about 20-30 second mark.
untitled2.mp3
This is just pure amp noodling noise.

So there ya go. Miner and JD, yall go buy one now! :punk:

Fucking hell, he's a good guitarist isn't it.

I think that's Minerman's holy grail tone!

I'm not really impressed with the Jubilee. It sounded like your buddy was struggling to get any decent sustain out of the notes. It just sounded dull and doesn't have the clarity of the 800 or the Plexi.

Cool man, I was pretty sure that was Chris playing before I finished reading your post...He's fuckin' good on the 80's shred thing for sure...

Pretty good tones, but it doesn't seem to have sustain like some other amps I've heard, dunno what's up with that, maybe I've just gotten used to my EVH, but again, the notes don't ring out as long as I'm used to...

While I'm sure some great sounds can be dialed in with the Jubilee re-issue, I just don't see myself dropping that much $$$ on that amp...If I were to drop over a grand on an amp head, it'd probably be something from Friedman...For me, the bang for my buck seems to be Ceriatone still yet, so eventually I'll probably go that route again...I'm still very interested in their 20w JCM800 clone for about $700 new...While I've never played through one, if my guesses are right, it should be pretty close to the Chupacabra I had with the 3 different modes, just a different power section (6V6), & in a lunchbox format...

I got some noise complaints a few days ago, I had the little EVH running at full-tilt & a couple of the neighbors bitched about it, even though it was during the day, I'm gonna have to lay low for a while...

Clips sound good dude, but everything on the amp side of things for me is still on hold until I get another house...It just wouldn't make any sense to buy something I couldn't use the way it was intended right now...Fingers crossed that it won't be too much longer...

FINALLY!! Some me time to play with some stuff.

This is my attempt at the Poulan Sims + cab impulses. I used my LP Jr. Special avec le Bridge P90. Really shitty playing, my apologies to your ears and souls.

This is my Hybrit Settings:

this is the IR file i used and how i set it up

Let me know what ya'll would have done different or would tweak or whatever. I am kind of really stoked on the possible use of this! I'm not the biggest fan of double tracking guitars anymore but if i were to ever need a bit more beef anywheres i could use this as a fall back pretty easily.

I may screw around with it a bit more to see what else i can pull out of it but for what it is, it sounds and feels a million times better than this stupid Pod3 i have been using.

Thanks again for the share Greg-o

The Hybrit sounds pretty decent for that style of music. I tried using those Le Poulin amp sims about 5 years ago but I was never happy with the tones.

Sounds decent. The Hybrit is the only Poulin amp I liked. Not saying the others are shit, but they didn't do it for me. I think the others are more geared towards metal players.

Doesn't sound bad dude, you could definitely fit it into a mix...The impulses/cab sims will make a big difference so don't forget to play around with different IR's too...

Intewresting. How much of the guitar's tone makes it through the sim & impulse?

I like it. Sounds pretty good to me. Perfect sound for that style. You might want a little more bass in it, but try it in a mix first.

Is it "normal" to have the gain lower and the power amp higher?
