It sounds like I just lowered the gain right before the end. I used it last night at band practice and the settings I landed on has the gain just shy of 1:00, the tone shape around 2:00, which leans towards the brighter side of things, and the master vol straight up 12:00. Full 30W mode. That was a nice overdriving crunch that doesn't tread into mushy fuzzy metal territory. It sounded pretty great to me.JD01 wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 8:29 am
That sounds like an Orange alright! Much higher gain that you normally go for - funny to hear you doing metal chugging!
Cool tones - I'm still keeping one eye out for a Tiny Terror! Bet once you've got that dialed in how you want it will sound great on one side with you JCM800 on the other.
What tweak did you make just before the end? I liked the change that made - took some of the typical Orange boom out of it.

OK, here's the first tone from the tiny Orange Terror Stamp.
Just one sort of edge of breakup tone captured using a cable from the cabsim/headphone jack straight into my interface.
Volume: 12:00
Gain: 10:00
Shape: 02:00.
Curious thing, if I plug the headphones into the headphone jack, its pretty loud. A lot quieter when I've got a line from the headphone jack into my interface and my headphones plugged into the interface. Needs a LOT of preamp gain on the interface.
For some reason I think it sounds a bit nicer with headphones straight into the headphone jack.
This amp does what I want it to do though.
Hopefully I'll get it plugged into my cab properly over the weekend both directly and using the power section of my H&K.

Re: The Tone Thread
That sounds like a pedal. It needs some kind of power amp/speaker sim to sound natural for recording.

Re: The Tone Thread
Interesting. It sounds almost like two signals to my ears. Like a DI signal of clean and a DI signal of an OD pedal sitting on top of each other. I can't say as though i hear much cab simulation going on. It may be possible having some headphones in it creates a whole new dynamic. Will be interesting to hear through something else like an actual mic'd cab.
Re: The Tone Thread
its not surprising. its a pedal. i bet it sounds much better run through the power amp and cab of your h&k.

Paid $35 for a Fender Amp....sim. It sounds exactly what I wanted. Don’t know why I didn’t do this earlier. I had an iRig and used my iPad for amp sims but then the iRig broke.

Re: The Tone Thread
My ears favor the one in the middle. I think it would cut through a mix and still sound a bit more full than the other two. Lots of clarity and definition in it too!! They are all useable. I think the last one could be good if it were a bit more aggressive of a riff and played a hair more aggressively. I think the same punch could come out of it. As it is though i like the middle one.Armistice wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 8:39 pm Hokay.. just trying to dial in some core sounds for the new guitar...
I have the same riff being played through three different Kemper profiles - 2 Fenders of different types and a Ceriatone something - because they don't name the actual amps, but sort of use this code that everyone makes up a different version of it's hard to tell exactly what the amp being profiled is...
Any comments on any of the 3 - they're quite similar and they're just stock profiles - I've done a minor tad of eq-ing and gain adjustment, but only a touch, and left whatever reverb was already there, on... riff is just something I made up on the spot. Not sure if it'll appear as a song in the future... probably not quite my normal musical style.![]()

Thank you gentlemen.
It actually sounds as sharp as it looks if i were to speak so boldly.
Re: The Tone Thread
They all sound pretty robust and good to me. Nice fullness and clarity but those pickups will drive some when you dig in. Good stuff. I'm with WJ, I like the second one the best.Armistice wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 8:39 pm Hokay.. just trying to dial in some core sounds for the new guitar...

1 is a Dumble Overdrive special clone.Armistice wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 11:34 pm OK - moving right along.... much dirtier sounds this time, different riff... same format - 3 profiles. I'm going to list them below - if anyone wants to hazard a guess at what the actual amps are (I mean, I can get some of it.. but not all), that's be cool...
1. This is #2 from above - a Cereal Ton Over Ton Special - the actual profile is called C Ton SRV 5 5 - I guess I know what the SRV means..
2. Little Water (???) 22
3. Mars 100w CM800 - I think I've got this one...![]()
For the first one I turned the gain up a bit, obs... for the second that's what the profile had it set to, for the 3rd I turned it down a little from the profile setting - thing about the Kemper I've learned is that profiles work best at around the gain setting they were created at - go too much higher it gets mushy, go too much lower, sometimes it works, sometimes not, but you probably should be looking for a cleaner profile anyway....
Duesenberg - Dirty 3.mp3
Again, any preferences, criticisms, suggestions etc.... I don't do this much distortion in anything normally, so they sound OK to me, but what would I know?![]()
Ciao
2....no idea what that means. Could be a little amp, could be referencing a song?
3 is obvious and no surprise it's the best sounding one.

It's hilarious when clone builders get all uppity about their amps that they didn't design.Armistice wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 10:02 am Ah... Little Water = Little Walter.

Some boutique amp builder from North Carolina, it seems. I bet he's really annoyed someone's profiled his amp and is giving it away in a free Kemper pack.![]()

Cool tones I actually preferred #1 in the 1st set - not by much though and Mars ate his children well in the 2nd set.

I like the first one better because it's more articulate sounding, and doesn't have the low mids that clutter up a mix like the others do.Armistice wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 8:39 pm Hokay.. just trying to dial in some core sounds for the new guitar...

I don't like the middle one. I like the first one and the last one but the middle one is a no from me. I'd like to hear a wee bit more presence on the last one to sort of match up with a bit of the presence on the first and i think you'd have some well balanced dirty guits right there.
Fair to note, that my ears may also be toast as I have had my work cans on all day in meetings and some folks mic were shrill and tinny and some were dull and quiet and i found myself having to turn it up to hear them only to be deafened by a javelin of shrill to the ear drum when the others spoke up. Sucked.

Hey Armi,
Only just logging on to have a listen to this.
Of the first set, I liked the 2nd tone.
Of the 2nd set I liked the first one and the third one the most. Hated the 2nd one. Uncharacteristically rocky for you. Cool.
Most importantly, what's the Duesy like to play? Is it making you write?

Interesting. You write instruments first and vocals second? I’m the other way around.Armistice wrote: ↑Fri Oct 15, 2021 6:00 pmThat seems to be roughly the consensus.JD01 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 15, 2021 11:23 am Hey Armi,

Yes, absolutely I'm coming up with lots of ideas. Going to start recording one this weekend. Actually wrote it on acoustic but sounds really nice with delay & vibrato via pedals and just a touch on the vibrato arm on the guitar. And some palm muting on the low strings.
(I'm trying to not call it a "trem arm" seeing it's not tremolo. Probably best stick to "whammy bar")
It won't surface as a song for a while though. Not really very lyrical just at the moment, so I'm trying to get some music sans words bits ready.
