This has my Epiphone Sheraton II, ( humbucker, plank with hollow wings,) on the left and my Bruno Royal Artist, (single coil, thinline, hollow body with some arching), on the right.
The Epi is straight into the amp but the Bruno, being single coil, needed a clean boost from a pedal to get the amp to respond in a similar way to the Epi.

Sounds pretty similar to the other ones. It's all good. Use whatever you feel like using.

Yes, the samples are more about the character of the amp & speakers than of the guitars.
Interesting.
The only thing requiring assistance was the Royal Artist & that assistance achieved the result you describe.
This leaves me with a bundle of guitars that are useable and only the 12 strings that has a question mark. I didn't post any clips of it with powerchords or strummed open chord becasue they sounded unpleasant - arpeggios sounded great but not much else.
Now I need a project.
Thanks for the feedback and reference points Greg.
Cheers

Ray, post all the tones you want man, that's what this thread is for...I promise I'll get to them as quick as I can too, instead of being a lurker like I had been...

I can't say anything negative about this, the last few clips you have posted have all been excellent sounding to my ears...It's almost like night/day difference...I've mentioned it before, but do what you have to in order to remember how you got these tones Ray, they're really good IMO...

Keep after it, you've made huge progress in the last little while dude... :minernuggs:

If you got 40-something minutes to spare, and we all do these days, check this out.

This is like ground zero high gain amp mod stuff. It's a big deal. Jose Arredondo is a Mount Rushmore type guy in the amp mod world. Not exactly my kind of tone, but I dig the history of it.

I’ve watched this several times already man...hahaha

My Chupa is supposed to be based off one of the Jose mods...Which one I have no idea though...

I really couldn’t ask for a better sounding amp, I just wish it was louder in the hot-rodded modes so I could use ‘em with the band, but I may have found a “little” solution for that...

Came up with a heavy bass tone today and I think it works quite well :)

Bass into a Klone, into my Sanamp klone, with a bit of compression and some EQ in Reaper.

Jeez, I've obviously been out of the loop of the tone thread for way too long. Sorry I didn't see this one back in March. Whatever you're using here sounds great to me. It's mid-focused so it leaves room for the bass and drums. I always wanted one of those Epi Sheraton, that's some good hollowbody sound.

Cheers, I'm just trying to blend it with a mellow tone for the verses... But I think I might just not bother.

OK, here's my bass tone in a mix.

Like my another of my recent heavy tones I didn't use that much gain but quad tracked the guitars, every one using a slightly different tone.

Shit i missed this flare up of the TT virus.

I'll be honest, i didn't at all like the bass tone on it's own. Like, at all. It just had something grating and synthetic about it. But once i heard it in your mix it really worked well with the guitars and vibe you are chasing down. Very interesting.

Another great example of how tones on their own can be a bit deceiving. Especially with bass stuff!!!

I think it fits right into the mix JD01 . I actually liked it soloed, but I like it even more in the mix. The dirt on it helps it compete with the guitars outside of the low end.

Yeah - I was undecided on its own. I thought it sounded cool.. but wasn't sure if it was useful.
When I put it with the guitars I was pretty pleased.

Cheers, the guitars are all high passed at 125 to give the bass a bit of space and there are four guitars.
