JHS have been heavily promoting their latest pedal, 424 Gain Stage, and demonstrating the origins of it: slamming the prpeamp, track amp & master amps in a portastudio. It's not a sound I'm fond of.

Nevertheless I gave the origins of it a whirl today with my old Yamaha MT100. Yeah, I can get that sound but it's not very nice...muddy fuzz really. It REALLY takes some EQing to work in a mix too. I suppose it's just another Dr Robert thing.
Cheers

First tone test in a while. Just bridge pickups, no faffing with neck pickups.
No effects, nothing in post, etc. Just my crunch channel. Audix i5.

Bonus point if you can tell me left to right, where all the guitars are in the final version.

Had another good listen to these. Crimson and LP Jr. Sound as they always do, Crimson thicker, Jr. is a little spikier and more articulate.

The 135 is just a bit mild compared with the others.

The tele pickup is doing its thing, totally different to the others. A bit thin but also pleasantly angry.

Surprised by how nice the random Chinese mini humbuckers are the Aria, a bit like the Crimson but not as clear.

They all sound pretty good except the 135. That thing is dead.

Just seems very low output.

I'm pleased with how tele-like my self build sounds. Has that cutting quality that I like about teles.

The Mose-wrong sounds not shit. Which is good for 200 quid.
