Can I say right now that it has become apparent that the tuners I've put on are fucking shit. It took me an hour to get it in tune and it won't stay there. Graphite in the nut helped a bit, but the gear ratios are just too low to be of any use.

All clips recorded on the JVM crunch channel, orange mode, gain = 8, everything else at 12 o'clock.

Once again, sorry for the playing, sorry for the tuning, sorry for the choice of demo tunes.
Sounds good to me, Bubba - I particularly like the sound of the B90! Have you got the clips backwards for the ECW riffing in the thread? The 2nd one sounded more like a split pickup to me.

Thanks, JD. Yes, I did. I tried to edit it in the post but unfortunately that doesn't affect the name of the attachment. :coolstorybro:

Yeah you do. I noticed the description reversal yesterday and just hearing it I could tell it was a typo. They both sound great though!

Minerman wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2017 4:17 am Ok dudes, here's a tone from Hillbillyville, I think this is the first tone I've posted here, hard to believe....I've got a lot goin' on, & it's hard to keep up with a whole forum, instead of just the tone thread, so I apologize...

Not sure what guitars were used on this, I'm guessing the left guitar is the P90 SG, & the right is the humbucker SG...Rami will have to let us know about that...

These are the rhythm tones I'm using on one of Rami's songs, I'm dying to hurry & finish the mix, but I don't wanna shortchange the mix just because I'm excited about it...I personally think this is a great song, & deserves no less than my very best effort...

Signal chain: ??? > EVH LBX > Greenback (the older one I've had for a few years, not the EVH branded speakers) > Audix i5 > daw (there is reverb on these tracks, I forgot to mute the reverb folder...)

Amp settings:
Blue channel (the amp still has the lower-gain tubes in a couple of the pre-amp slots that IMHO, makes the amp a lot more versatile)
15w mode
Gain:........6-7
Bass:..........7
Mid:...........2
Treble:.......4
Presence:....5
Volume:......5

Rami Re-Amped

Lemme know what you guys think...
Miner - your dropbox isn't letting me download this can you just upload it. I'd quite like to hear rami reamped. Which Rami track is it? I'd like to listen to it back to back with the original.

Yeah, one track is P-90 bridge on the Epiphone. The other track is humbucker neck on the Gibson...both Sg's.

I'm just on my way out to work. Looking forward to hearing this later.

Fuck it's asking me to sign in. I don't have a Drop Box account. That's weird. I could have sworn I've downloaded people's stuff from DropBox without having to sign in.

OK, I just realized I already had a Drop Box account.

But now it says "The folder ‘/Rebels Forum’ doesn’t exist."

Dropbox recently made changes to their folder structure and it futzed up a lot of historical stuff for some people. Me included.

Sorry guys, I thought I had the Dropbox thing figured out, guess I am just a dumb hillbilly... :minernuggs:

Try this:
Rami Re-Amped 3-21-2017.mp3

Just to see if it works or not, I uploaded it to the old folder in Dropbox too:

Rami Re-Amped

If I can't get Dropbox to work like it used to for me, I'll probably find another place to upload my clips...I'm about 100% sure it's something I'm doing wrong though, so again, sorry dudes...

I'm not 100% sure but I think Dropbox removed the public folder so it now asks for people to login.... I dont use Dropbox to link to files anymore so I'm not sure if you can still have an open access download there anymore...???

Wow, that's a lot different from Rami's usual sound. Definitely has the miner-sound treatment. Pretty cool. :coolstorybro:

Yeah, that sounds great. I wonder if I should trying to achieve that sound. I think I can get pretty close to that. I don't think I'm far. Miner's sound is meatier, with more low end, but also with more fizz (and I mean "Fizz" in a good way).

Thanks guys,
On the Dropbox thing, I think I'm just gonna pull the plug on 'em, it worked for years until they wanted to change shit around, so I'm gonna find another place to upload my shit to...

On the tone, my favorite speaker is the Greenback, the older one that came in the Randall 1x12 I bought a few years ago...It's broken in really well, & I love how it sounds...I also "know" that speaker very well, so it's pretty easy for me to get something usable pretty quick...

I did run the di's through all of my speakers just to see if any of 'em brought anything out I liked more, but the Greenback won for me for the rhythm guitars...

That said, I did re-amp the lead guitar tracks through different speakers, trying to make a clear difference in tone, like 2 different guitarists...You'll have to wait until I finish the mix before I post those, as I don't wanna ruin the surprise...lol...

I'm gonna try to button the mix up in the next couple of days, I've got the "static" mix pretty much finished, I just need to do some automation & a few of my favorite finishing touches on a few things...Hopefully, my mix will do the song justice, IMHO it's a great song, & deserves my best effort...

Rami: It shouldn't be too hard to get a sound close to this with your setup dude, I keep the treble & presence under "5" all the time, & the mic placement is the usual "cap meets the cone" thing, nothing fancy whatsoever...

I saw EVH has another little amp out now, the LBX II, which is supposed to be the clean channel with the blue channel from his bigger amps...That would probably suit me a bit better than the amp I have, but with a simple tube swap I'd say I'm pretty close to what the LBX II is...

Yo Bubba, here's a quickie with my Riff Raff using your settings. I don't know where you had the mic, so I just stuck it. I don't know, it looks a little off axis, a little off the grill, maybe halfway across the speaker.

Let me see if I can use the site's attachments....

Wow. Same undeniable character but somehow quite different! Mine sounds a little more "driven" and perhaps a little brighter, but I may have been a bit closer to the centre with my mic placement. I may also have my pickup a little higher.

On a second listen, actually I don't think mine is brighter. There's just a bit more drive! That's a little strange. :sherlock:
