Looks like a cozy place to hang ones hat Ausrock Very nice!
Re: Time for another "show us your home studio" thread!
VHS........although I have had "moodish" lighting at times, that was done on the PC.
WJ........."old school"......absolutely and proud of it. When I started on the journey towards semi-serious recording PC recording was (and possibly still is) all over the place and being on the road to becoming an "old fart" I stuck with what was somewhat familiar, it ultimately fulfilled a dream I didn't know really existed and the setup has mainly been used for "in house" stuff. 11 years of real world issues (work) and then subsequent health probs over the last 15 - 18 months have compounded the problems, something I think I'm gradually getting on top of but it's going to take some time.
There still nothing quite like hands on real faders and EQ's even if it's only to listen to CD's. Yes, I do transgress to the digital "dark side" BUT..........

Looks like a tidy space. You know how you're gonna lay it out and what you're putting in there?

I do! The desk will be below the Beatles poster. My guitars will be where I took the picture. I’ll have to see about other stuff.

I know it's a small, longish room but, in terms of reflections and balance wouldn't setting your desk right in the middle of the window wall be better than at the end of a room with he windows creating different reflections compared to the door/lounge, wall.CrowsofFritz wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 5:24 pmI do! That's awesome CrowsofFritz , that looks like it'll be a worthy room for a home studio. Sure it'll be a little tricky for symmetry but just the space itself will be great to sprawl out in a bit. Cheers!

Wouldn’t be a bad idea. I’d have to get a long extension chord to do that.rayc wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 11:31 pmI know it's a small, longish room but, in terms of reflections and balance wouldn't setting your desk right in the middle of the window wall be better than at the end of a room with he windows creating different reflections compared to the door/lounge, wall.CrowsofFritz wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 5:24 pm

I would have thought that a longer room would generally be preferable (so you get less immediate reflection from the back wall) You can always treat the two sides to deaden that first reflectionrayc wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 11:31 pmI know it's a small, longish room but, in terms of reflections and balance wouldn't setting your desk right in the middle of the window wall be better than at the end of a room with he windows creating different reflections compared to the door/lounge, wall.CrowsofFritz wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 5:24 pm

I thought that too... but that might mean sticking a treatment over a window!vomitHatSteve wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 11:44 amI would have thought that a longer room would generally be preferable (so you get less immediate reflection from the back wall) You can always treat the two sides to deaden that first reflection

So I vote do it!
Re: Time for another "show us your home studio" thread!
My set up is desk facing BIG window & centred.
Heavy curtains & blinds are usually, but not always, down/closed...with my monitors about 50cm away from the glass when the space is open there's not much hitting the glass.
