But this is my latest rhythm guitar technique of using the i5 one side and the SM57 the other side. I've muted all of the lead guitar work on this as they were just placeholders, so its just rhythm guitars, bass and drums.

Fairly pleased with them but you've got any tips for how to make them sound better prior to me recording the rest of the bits that would be great.

I think it's pretty good. There's a little tubbiness in the rhythm guitars that's compounding with the low end in the bass. It's like speaker woof. I bet if you go looking real low like around 150hz you'll find it.

Excellent - cheers, mate. I'll keep that in mind prior to my initial mix when I've finished the vocal. Hoping to have another stab at the vocals and lead guitar today.

I don't hear any of that clicky break up shit in any of this. And if it is there my dumb ears are missing it entirely. Great jam man. I think that is also the wettest i have ever heard your drums perhaps. And if i have heard them as wet or wetter i don't recall. :like:

Sounds pretty good Greg sir. Bang up job on that rig.

Thanks brocephus. Yeah it's pretty wet. Kind of has to be for this style. The guitar reverb is all amp. I friggin love that drippy shit.

Instrumental surf punk album on the drawing board?
Thanks.

Yeah, actually, it's been in the works for a very long time. I just chip away at it here and there.

Good excuse to revisit the rack. It's very, very cool.
Are you planning an early Link Wray style track as well?

No not really. Maybe. There are some things that surf guitar just has to have - like drippy reverb and wiggling the wang bar - but I don't put too much effort into trying to write surf stuff in any kind of style. I just come up with something and let it be however it comes out.

20 days & counting dudes...Time seems to have slowed to a crawl, but I think 8-3 will be the ship date...Not 100% confirmed, but Nik did tell me in an e-mail somewhere around that time should be about right...I figure about 5 days (give or take) for shipping, so I'm guess-ti-mating she'll be here around August 8th...

Stoked is an understatement...I'm struggling with the wait, but trying to be patient over here...
This has already been the longest wait I can remember, & it's only about 1/2 through...

More to come... :minernuggs:

Afternoon dudes. Just finished work and I had to have a quick record of a tone now that I've got my recording room back together after all of the decorating - I now have carpet and the room is super-dry! Don't suppose the interface make's any difference, but its nice to actually record something now i have it.

I was just listening to a few chords ringing out in the room and I thought they sounded pretty good!

Sounds good dude...The interface might make a difference Jdude, I don't think it'd be much, but it might...There was a slight difference in some of my tracks when I went from a Tascam US122-L to the KA6 I have now, but it wasn't night/day...

I can't wait to get my amp dude, & I'm looking at a new interface to boot, but that'll probably be a few months...

Your new amp suits you really well Jdude, happy for you man, you've put a lot of time into this & it's paying off... :minernuggs:

Yeah, the i5 is what I find gives me closest to what I'm hearing in the room.
