To me that is classic circa 80's classic metal all round...
I was there. I hate it..

I was there as well & I agree - metal really needed to skip the 80s, (& 90s for that matter).
OK, despite most people hating metal and me not even liking it that much I'm posting up my 3rd metal tone as I'm working my way through the arrangement for this song! Promise you I'll leave metal tones alone after this!
This is less scooped and has more treble, its probably got slightly more mids that Tone 1, and a bit more treble than tone 1. A lot more mids and trebel than tone 2.

Here's a bit more of my metal tone. Slightly different to the other one, I think this is both a little less treble and a little more scooped.
I think this is actually too scooped and too dark now, what you reckon?

We need some kind of intervention team to go to Wales.

I guess it's pretty good. Better than the last one.

Cheers, I've just brightened it up a touch more too, the tone knob on my SD1 was down at 10PM, and I'm going to track these rhythms with it today.
I don't think it's too hard to keep it in context. One guitar doing nothing in a slow song with tons of space can get away with being "dark". Sounds like the neck pickup and a fuzz.
Jdude: I liked the previous clip a little better myself, & I think you need more grit/grind to the guitars...They sound just a little too clean to me...These clips are still way better than your Blackstar tones though dude...
You gotta remember I'm a gain-head though & I probably use way too much most if not all the time...

20180508_195749.jpgCan't quite make this out from where I'm sitting. Sounds good though even though it's not mental loud and quite clean.
Looks like a JCM 900 to me. Greg will be along in a bit, no doubt.
The combo version of that was on my hit list for a little while. I was going to pair it with a 1912 cab as they are the same width. It would have given me a devastating amp in a pub-sized compact package.

The 900 DR has a pretty bad reputation in Marshall lore, but I've never heard one sound bad and you don't often hear of them breaking. They're probably the most popular backline Marshall going right now. If you see a common rented backline at a festival or something, chances are the Marshall duties are handled by a JCM 900 DR. They always sound great.
