Ok you asshats, here's the very first recordings of Lt. Bob 's amp. There's no rhyme or reason to any of this, I was just running through the channels and controls making sure everything works.
SG Standard both pickups, full humbucker and split coils.
Boob's amp
Various controls and volumes
Marshall 1960B 4x12 - Vintage 30
Shure SM57 on axis somewhere about halfway across the speaker a couple inches off the grill
No FX or EQ in DAW
Boob Amp 1 Normal channel.mp3
Boob Amp 1 Vibrato channel.mp3

That sounds like a really sweet version of a Fender clean tone. Basically, it just makes me want to plug in a have a play clean for a little while.
Particularly the reverb.
How much does it really break up if you really wallop it?

It's basically a Deluxe Reverb ....... I played on one outside at a gig a couple of years ago and at around 7 it was glorious!
I don't know how much it was breaking up but it was just singing with sustain that just didn't end.
But clean is importance number one for me.
At some point Greg'll do some clips to determine if the orange drops actually make a difference because his amp didn't have them.
So we'll prolly get an idea of its breakup then.
JD01 at the very end of the Vibrato channel clip I cranked it briefly and slopped out some stuff. That's all it's got. It will get crunchy but not super saturated.
But I know Lt. Bob likes his clean really really really clean so that's mostly what I focused on while just making sure it all works.
Yeah, I did get right through it - was wondering if that was the lot.
Not a criticism if that is all the overdrive it'll do, I realise that its not designed for that. Genuinely a really sweet sounding amp.
I've been hankering after a little Fender for a while now.
Hopefully @Lt. Bob will finally film and record one of his shows for us now!

But it's purple and gold so who cares!!
Just right off the bat I like yours better. No kidding. Mine's great and it has been serving me well under hard use, but I immediately noticed better controlled bottom end in yours. Mine attacks a little harder, yours is smoother overall. But we'll see with sound clips later on. Yours still needs to break in a lot.
The breakup on these things is hard to define. It really depends on pickups. Humbuckers can get one of these things to start crunching at 3-4 on the volume. It doesn't take much. But naturally these things were originally designed with Fender guitars in mind and that means single coils. The chime and clean these things produce with single coils is out of this world.

I use mine for surfabilly madness and it's great for that. Dirty-ish clean with reverb and tremolo all day long. It punches pretty hard. I have no problem cutting through a full band without any effort. Boob being the only guy in his band will use his for sparkly cleans and as a "pedal platform". You won't find too many amps that take pedals better than these. I think one of the beautiful things about these amps is how responsive they are to what the player does. I'm a total hack and I can make it do things just by my picking attack or guitar volume rolling. Boob is a pro. He'll have this thing singing.

It definitely sounds like a Fender. Nice job! The purple and gold color scheme is a little too funky for me, but it sounds great.
Another toy that helped destroy the elder race of man..forget about your silly whim it doesn't fit the plan.

well also the breakup should be greater with the feedback off.
I like sustain ...... but I don't really need saturated dirt that much ..... and when I do, that's where pedals come in ...... or maybe the 18 watt!
Also I won't use this on my solo gig ...... I just use a modeler thru the PA ..... I'll use it when I go play with Reuben but even there I'll have to watch the volume.
This'll push me towards looking for some bands to work with.

The master volume works great. It does collapse the negative feedback though if you turn it way way down. You wouldn't notice it unless you turn it way down like for quiet bedroom playing or something. Just knocking a little off the top with the master volume for live jamming is no big deal. A PPIMV and negative feedback kind of work together. The switchable negative feedback we installed will be most noticeable when the amp is up loud closest to it's natural state. As you turn the volume down with the PPIMV, our switchable neg feedback becomes less noticeable because the volume control is taking care of it. It's a side effect that most people like with a PPIMV. As the volume goes down, the tone gets ballsier because the the negative feedback gets reduced. What you lose in air moving cab shaking volume you kind of get back with fuller tone straight from the amp. That's just how it works out. That's my understanding of it anyway. Maybe I got some of it wrong, but that's what seems to happen.
On my Marshalls, they seem to have way more gain with the PPIMV very low. They get quiet but super hairy and saturated - no negative feedback. They also lose all presence control. Presence is tied in with negative feedback. No negative feedback, no presence. Turn the PPIMV back up and the gain goes back to normal, presence control goes back to normal, and they tighten up - feedback returned.

Fishing? A long way from covid riddled idiots?
Sort of. Yes fishing, but there was still a shocking number of people in my little usually ignored area of Texas beach. I'd never seen that strip of beach as crowded as I saw it last weekend. The weekdays weren't too bad, the weekend got ridiculous. It was mental. I don't think it was particularly dangerous, but it was way too crowded for me. After yelling at some kids to get the fuck out of my long lines, I yelled at their parents. Regular people don't understand surf fishing. I had to explain it like this: I'm fishing with big baits on really big hooks to catch big fish. When a kid gets in my line and I see the fishing rod wiggle, I'm setting that big hook into whatever is disturbing it. That's how fishing works. If I catch some idiot's idiot kid, so be it.
