Haha, see I think it's hideous. I took a picture of it cos I though it was one of the ugliest les pauls I'd ever seen. That blue colour with the mini humbuckers is just odd to me.WhiskeyJack wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2017 4:21 pmI like that blue LP looking one in the middle. I like it a lot. i'd like it even more if it had cream colored P90's. That'd be a bucketlist guit for me.

More for me to procure then. I wouldn't get it with the mini hums though. P90's Cream. then i would probably purchase sight unseen no fucks just own it.

^^ this is like a bucket list guitar right here. (assuming it was a left handed model) ^^
Re: The Tone Thread
Well, there you got then... would be boring if we all liked the same thing. But that looks like something out of a 50s themed diner to me... I'd expect it to be served with a strawberry milkshake.

You gotta remember though, JD likes cheese. Your kind of Les Paul comes with a milkshake. His guitars come with a gift card to Hot Topic.

Re: The Tone Thread
I think it sounds okay, but it's pretty annoying with no vocals in there to take attention off of it. Lol. I can imagine it being cool with something else going on in front of it. I think it starts and stops too abruptly. It almost seems like you chopped the starts and tails right off at the grid. I'd like to hear those tiny little nuances that sound like a hand on a fretboard. A little slide off the last note or something. But like I said, this will probably all be moot with vocals on top.
Yeah I thought all the tones sounded good. No problem there. Also, a couple of solos in this one. One at about 1:49 and one at about 3:09. Tones ok?
This is a quick faders up semi-mix. So, I'm not worried about details on the levels just yet.

Lol Goddamn man. That's pretty good!Bill L wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2017 4:16 pm Here's me just noodling around. Open G tuning, Strat (with Lindy Fralin Blues Special pups), flat wound strings through a Vox Tonelab SE. When I get a chance I'm gonna crank the Bassman and see what happens. Maybe later this week. I play 7's in so much stuff that the whole thing just sounds natural to me. Especially for what the song is. I love it.![]()

Question, what the hell is a "7s" chord?

Re: The Tone Thread
The theory of it all is beyond my pay grade at the moment but, for instance, the "Hendrix" chord is an E 7 #9. I use a Major 7 chord (I move my little finger for the octave on the D string and put it on the B string. So for an A, the little finger is on the 8th fret of the B string) in a bunch of songs. I do a funky version of Life In The Fast Lane using only 7 chords.
I'm sure if I'm incorrect someone will correct and therefore save me.
From our last gig, my first time in leading a power trio. The chords are D7, G7 and A7.

I understand what you're saying. Call me "Rami-X" on this oneGreg_L wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2017 12:50 pm I think it sounds okay, but it's pretty annoying with no vocals in there to take attention off of it. Lol. Here it is with vocals. Actually, speaking of calling me "Rami-X", this is an older song of mine, so I won't present it as "new". It's totally re-tracked, but I might have posted the original version a 2 or 3 years ago in the Clinic. It's from my new album called "Ram's Brew".
EDIT: I deleted the file of the song from this post , since I posted the finished version in the "Let's have a Listen" forum.

Re: The Tone Thread
You know what a 7th is. If you're playing an "E" chord, but put a "D" in there, you're playing a 7th. Play a regular E chord on the first fret. Now take your pinky and put it on the 3rd fret of the B string. That's an E7.

Re: The Tone Thread
Ok, I apologise for these clips, but I thought I'd best get something down. Can I say right now that it has become apparent that the tuners I've put on are fucking shit. It took me an hour to get it in tune and it won't stay there. Graphite in the nut helped a bit, but the gear ratios are just too low to be of any use.

Ahhhhh I know what you mean now. I call those "country chords". Lol. I sometimes use them to lead right into the next chord but I don't know how or why it works. Like if you play a G, then a quick G7, it goes right to C.
I think they all sound good. Nice and meaty but with good clarity.Bubba wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2017 4:24 pm Ok, I apologise for these clips, but I thought I'd best get something down. Can't listen yet bubba but I will tomorrow afternoon at work. Sorry you cocked the tuners up but you were bound to make a bunch of mistakes on spec. Take'em off, flog'em on eBay and treat yourself to some really nice ones. The guitar appears to have turned out really well and so it won't be a waste to stock some high end gear on it. Personally I like locking tuners, but there's some really chunky open gear ones around to which look great.Bubba wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2017 4:24 pm Ok, I apologise for these clips, but I thought I'd best get something down. Re: The Tone Thread
Man locking tuners are the biggest scam around. Besides maybe slightly quicker string changes, they don't do anything to help tuning stability that normally functioning standard tuner doesn't do.

Re: The Tone Thread
No worries, JD. It's my own fault - I skimped. I robbed them from a cheap second-hand guitar. This guitar ought to have the best of everything. I'm looking at a set of Grover 102 rotomatics with the keystone button shape. Eighty quid, but I've managed to sell my old backup guitar for a few quid. That ought to ease the pain.JD01 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2017 7:32 pm
