Fuck, sounds great when the gain is kicked in. That's the sort of tone I like. Does it palm mute well? or mush out?

Cool - you know, I thinking BR style muted verses with open strummed crazy choruses.
These shit clips have way more gain than anything Bad Religion does. I think you're overestimating how "heavy" Bad Religion's guitars actually are. They don't use high gain amps or even hot pickups. They use LP Jrs and JCM 800s and Plexis. I've seen them live countless times. They have wonderful gorgeous punk rock and roll tones played fast and well. Not really high gain by today's standards.
That's a really good tone though and would easily fit in the sort of mixes I put together.
Yeah maybe. I hear your stuff more in the Mesa-style, but this would probably work too.
And that aint no kill switch. Lol. That's just a regular scratchy switchcraft Gibson pickup selector. When you roll the neck vol all the way off, the pickup selector becomes an on/off switch.

Yeah, I know. I just thought the idea of a light up kill switch from a metal site might make you sick in your mouth.

Yeah, you're probably right. Its probably 'cos the mixes (well True North anyway) are really thick and dense.

Yeah True North is really bass (guitar) driven. The guitars sound great, but the bass really carries most of it IMO. Jay Bentley is a terrific bass player. The guitars mostly fill in as basic rhythm guitars. They're thick, but not particularly "high gain". I'd say they're pretty "regular" Marshall type gain. The leads are wonderfully natural. Listen to the lead on Past is Dead. Amazing natural raw lead tone with no metal-ness at all.

Cool, will have a listen to it when I go to bed now and try and think about what they're actually doing. Dunno what it is about that album. I listened to Against the Grain, Recipe for Hate, Stranger Than Fication and Generator loads when I was younger and while I had the later albums they haven't really grabbed me so much. True North really grabbed me though.
Anyway - here's something completely different - I'll be re-tracking ('cos my hands are freezing right now) but was wondering what you think of the tones, if you think there's anything else I could be doing with mic placement.

I think it sounds okay. I don't know, I hate acoustic guitars. I'm not at all a good judge on what to do with them. Maybe they could be a little brighter, but watch the finger squeaks.

Dude apparently, Jdude never heard Ace Frehley on the original "Alive" album before we had all these fancy LED switches to make our guitars pretty...

That's a pretty insane price for that amp right now.
Thanks for the heads up, but...meh...I'd love to have one, just to say I have one, but there's no way I can use a 100w amp right now, hopefully before too long I will, but I gotta play the waiting game...
I thought Jdude was in his 20's for some reason...

I just look young and pretty, miner. I'm 37 this year.
I'll be 47 this year, but I admit I lived pretty hard for a long, long time, so I look a lot older...All the partying I did for 25 years or so took it's toll...

I don't even like Jubilees, but I'm tempted to buy it just because of the price. Or maybe that's just the way those Jube reissues are trending now. Hell, maybe they'll be 700 in a few months.
