Yeah, doing what they pedal heads recommend - pedal into good tube amp just before breakup. Though, to my mind a good tube amp just after break up and beyond is a thing of it's own beauty. This one at AUS$200 shipped from Venezuela, isn't on my shopping list If I had the 200 to drop I think I'd get the mod done to my Superbass.

I loved my danelectro T-bone distortion. Loved it. I should plug that thing into the orange and see if i can make use it. I still have it haha. It's pretty road worn though. that thing saw some really really good times.
I have tendencies to hoard but I also know that I give away stuff that I'll never use.
Shannon, you like to hang around in very large groups I take it.
Sorry about that could be UK vs US spelling.
Here's a tone.....I'm working on this right now. I'd like to know if I have too much gain on the intro guitar mainly. I hear a kind of crunchiness in it that I'm not sure is good.
There's also a break at 2:15 that goes into a solo. Wondering how my solo tone sounds.

I don't think the intro is too crunchy, but it is a little "small" compared to the rhythms. Seems a little nasally compared to the more balanced wide rhythms. I like the roomy solo. Works good in the song. No prob for me with the solo tones.

Intersting, thanx. I think it's the way I use my pick for a part like that. I get a sort of nasally tone just from the way I play with the end of the pick, almost as if I'm trying to get some chirps, even though that's not what I'm trying to do. Either that or my Gibson sounds "smaller" than my Epi because I often find that my "third" guitar sounds thinner than tracks 1 and 2 (the wide rythms).
That's a signature Rami sound. Early on I had it confused with a mild "cocked wah" effect. I thought it was some processing, but Rami assured me it wasn't. That tone is present 'somewhere' on every recording I've heard.
Yup it's a Rami "signature tone". Many guitarists would love to have their 'own' sound. The Ramster got it.
There! Is that enough blue sky and sunshine for you?

That's all true. I've always said I could pick out a Rami mix in a blind test with no problem. He not only has his own guitar sound and style, he has his own drumming too.

This is the track I was messing about with re-doing last weekend and I posted up a tone from. Greg suggested a slight mid scoop and more gain (both very un-greg things to say!) but it worked, think I have a fairly decent classic metal tone.
Any other comments you can pick up on the mix at this stage would also be helpful as I hope to crack on with the vocal next weekend.

Yeah, I remember you asking me about that more than once. Others have commented on it, too. I don't know if it's good or bad, but I'm too old to change my style now, so it is what it always was and always will be.

Heavy, and great playing. Sounds really good to me. I don't know if this counts as a "tone" comment, but the "Tone" of the snare is a little box-y. See if there's something around 200-300hz that you can cut. Or maybe just turn it down a bit. Also, maybe the rythm guitars can use a bit more low mid balls to them. If only you can take some low mids away from the snare and give it to the rythm guitars. Other than that, sounds really cool to my ears.

Lol I think they sound pretty good. Rami is right, they do need a bit more punch. They sound kind of flat. Kind of simmy. But the feel and tone is there for corn-cheese metal.
Cheers, guys. I think that's as close as I can get with the amp. I'll have to fine tune it with ReaEQ now.
This is the only song I have like this and I'm looking forward to getting the bastard done and out of the way.
I'll have a fiddle with my guitars but I'm pretty reluctant to give them anything extra in the 200-500 range as that tends to be where the boxiness lives in the amp - makes it seem like there's a sleeping bag over the amp.
Taken me fecking ages to get this amp dialed in but I'm finally getting to the point with it where I can change shit to get the sounds I want without worrying about completely fucking murdering the tone - the amp isn't that much to blame for this though - I was learning how to dial an amp in for recording at the same time, having exclusively used shite sims for years beforehand and I never spent any significant time recording with my Peavey Bandit.
