Learning to RE-amp

Post by rayc »

Hello Folks,
I bought a re-amper recently.
The way things have been of late I don't get to use an amp cranked often so thought I'd experiment with recording DI stuff when I have the inspiration and re-amping when I get the chance.
I started a project and used my Epiphone Sheraton II to DI.
It's pretty dull n lifeless DId. I suppose it's "warm" and "jazz" like to some but it sounds dull to me. I didn't use any FX or treatment in the box because of the plan to re-amp.
With the re-amped version I sent the signal to my Marshall. For two tracks I used a Boss SD-1 with a little bit of gain and that varied slightly between the tow. For the other two I used an old boost EQ thing and varied the mid range between them.
The amp was mic'd with a 57 but was only on about 3 on the MV as Kim was upstairs and unwell.

Yeah reamping can be a useful technique sometimes. I use it with other people a lot.
