Observations on remixing old tracks

Vocals too high in the mix? Too low? Not even sure? Snare sounds wonky? And how do I make everything louder than everything else? Step in, step in, for your mix Viagra from people who know the secrets.

After 2023, being my least productive year since the mid 2000s, I feel this comment. Here's to a more productive 2024.

That would be nice eh. You admittedly have your hands incredibly full and tied what with trekking across the Midwest and raising an abode like some kind of pilgrim or something.

Sometimes when i feel self indulgent and curious I'll throw on some unfinished reference mixes of my shitty covers and originals for my kid and one cover in particular really seem to resonate with him so i feel like that 's my motivation to get cracking on that.

Before Christmas though my minister of finance politely laid the smack down and sat with a list of all that plagues me and we prioritized all kinds of my ridiculous half started projects all over my spectrum and I am picking at those methodically and in a manner of what makes the most sense, puts money back into our coffers and what not. recording is stuff is leisure a little further down the list sadly. :dislike: :dislike:

But i mean, TECHNICALLYYYYYYYYYYYYYY I work from home in my basement music room, i COULDDDDDDDD technically. pick away at some of the loose ends i need to record for that one song when i have the house to myself.

technically. :metal:

When I was WFH and had to dial into a boring "town hall" or some other meeting where my input wasn't required and I just had to listen, I'd have a guitar plugged in and be noodling away, rehearsing whatever the next thing I was planning to record was. Camera off, obviously.

When i was more actively involved in some project management i did that quite a bit.... Sitting in teams meetings always = camera off and strum a few chords try out ideas.
