Two More On the Stove

Post by rayc »

I've have a couple of new ones on the go at present.
Ones about 120bpm and the other 130.
Neither is long - both around three minutes of music though the files may well be longer.
One is sort of relaxed and pushing the beat at the same time while the other plods along.
No lyrics yet though I have a melody for one BUT it'll need to be simplified.
Both would benefit from ears to point out problems and ways to move forward.
For the JAN one I had to find, tune and get my head around the ancient nylon string "classical" guitar for one part. MIDI keys live into the DAW for the 'Tron string/flute parts. Biab provides drums & organ in both as well as the acoustic solo in the 1st.

Here's a slight update...midi melody ideas low in the mix

Drums addressed & melodies raised.

The other has a vague cod reggae/ska vibe to the intro. I had to retrack the guitars in this one today. I've been holding my heavy plectrum a bit wonky of late & I get a sliding sound as the side runs down the strings. I tried again with a lighter pick...it seems to have worked a bit better for me.

This one has reworked hard panned guitars

I like the alternate instrumentation on the first one.

It's a very "Ray" rhythm section, so you get clear continuity with the rest of your work, but on an album, it would make for a nice switch up.

Nice tunes @rayc

Both have that Ray C feel in the progression and strum pattern.

The first one I think the drums are a little big or fat for the tune, especially the bass drum.

In the second one I think the opposite, that the drums are lost behind the strumming guitar.

Thanks Steve...certain musical DNA I suppose.

Thanks Tony,
I've address both drums sets as suggested.
