New Thing with Alison

Post by rayc »

I started this a while back & posted the beginnings of it...an overly long track but it was fun to play as it seemed, to me, to have a groove that suited my playing.
It's too long, as someone noted, for my usual almost monotone vocal & narrative so I decided to try something different.
I had a few scratchings of melody but nothing useful really. I asked Alison to flesh it out a bit.
This is what we've come up with so far...
parkattack0606.mp3
BIAB does the organ, piano, drums & oohs.
Alison carries the melodic content.
Shorter, brighter & somewhat rearranged:
parkattackalt end.mp3

The cello does sound good in this mix.

Generally nice sounding.

The main thing I hear is an overall strong low end. I think for a mix like this, I'd go for a lighter sound. I'd take some low end out of the bass and cello. They're both low-end strong. The bass probably has some low mids that could possibly be removed.

I hear guitar and synth parts - but barely. I wonder if you could focus on them occupying a higher register? It seems like there is a lot of space up there. Might need a retrack for that.
