California Sun - Turtle and Gerg Collab
So I needed a back track for a song my chorus is singing. California Sun - the version by the Rivieras
@Greg_L was nice enough to provide a drum track and as I thought it would be cool to have some live drums for the track.
I decided to put a vocal to it and make it a full on cover.
The kids will have slightly different lyrics about waves instead of chicks
Anyway, really just did this version for grins and would love any input on the mix, tones, etc.

that's perfect actually!
Sounds great to me and you playing and the surf guitar are excellent.
And no one's better at that kinda drumbing than teh gerg!
gotta go gig but I wanted to say YAY! to this first

Sounds pretty good!
The one thing I'd tweak on the mix is some more 'verb on the vocals. They're very forward from the rest of the mix.
Maybe bring up the kick a little too. It's pretty buried, especially when the rhythm section comes in full-force.

Hahaha cool. Glad to help out.
I was gonna do my own version too since I already got the drums done.

Keyboard is SPOT ON.
Good collab and, naturally, a cooooool song.

Thanks @vomitHatSteve and @rayc!
The keyboard sound is a free Combo Model V plugin through a Fender Twin Reverb sim.

The keyboard sounds good actually. Drums sound good of course.
Someone else, said your vocal is a bit dry which I agree with.
The rhythm guitar on the left is a bit dark/muddy sounding.

Great version. Very faithful to the original. It sounds VERY similar. Great listen.
No mix nits from me. It was great.

HA!
Very cool! I don't really have any nits on anything here really. A classic fun song from classic fun guys! Good job all around.
