Ozone Mastering AB

Vocals too high in the mix? Too low? Not even sure? Snare sounds wonky? And how do I make everything louder than everything else? Step in, step in, for your mix Viagra from people who know the secrets.

Ozone Mastering AB

Post by JD01 »

OK, here's an A/B. I haven't even listened to them myself yet. I like the site player for that 'cos you can have two things on the screen and listen to individual sections and compare carefully.

I basically did nothing on Ozone - I just pressed the AI button and let it do what it wanted.
Also, there's this when I rendered it after running it through Ozone.

I'm not sure what I think yet. One of them is very loud! That's not necessarily good or bad. I think the Ozone version sounds cooler on the headphones I'm on I've not tried it on monitors or any other headphones yet.

You gotta set the target loudness to a reasonable level. If super loud is reasonable, then go for it.

I haven't found that setting (or any settings) yet. All I've really found that's clickable is just choosing "Rock" "Pop" "Country" etc. It must have listened to my track and auto selected rock.

Anyway, it sounds cool. I'll have another couple of listens and a play with it. At the moment, I think my strategy will be mix/master as best I can, turn my EQ and Event Horizon off and then just press the AI button to see if it makes it better.

So far I've literally just pressed one button on this thing. There doesn't actually appear to be much to play with though.

I don't like the AI attempts when I've tried it. It's always too bass heavy for my liking. I think it expects everyone to listen on headphones or earbuds.

Ah, I think you might have the fancy version. My version appears to only do AI.

My version just looks like this.

It looks like they've dumbed it down so much that it's not even usable anymore. :frown:

Yeah, you can basically choose Rock, Pop, Country, EDM and that's it. Hmmm waste of 30 quid? Maybe... probably

So you can't manually control any of the EQ bands or the limiter settings?

@JD01

You are in the master assistant mode.

I think you can get out of it by touching the rectangle with the three rectangles on top.

That will take you back to the module view where you have more control over specific features.

There's gotta be a way. I find it hard to believe that they killed all the functionality of that plug-in.

There’s many different types of Ozone. I’m guessing JD has Ozone Elements.

Yeah looks like they did away with that functionality for Elements in version 10...that sucks. I looked up their version comparision.

https://www.izotope.com/en/products/ozo ... .html#comp

If you want a free version of Ozone Elements 9...Focusrite is offering it through their plug in collective this month.
I have that and you can control the equalizer, maximizer and imager independently.

Looks that way...sorry man

That is a really bad update for them, no wonder it's $100 off right now.

Yeah that sucks. :frown:

This is why you don't pay for plug ins unless you really know what you're getting. There's always a free option. Always.
