Cheers, I'll have a go myself in a bit. Did you wiggle the "drive" knob? What do you use anyway? One of the Modern Plugins?

I'm sure you know the sound I'm after - that very 90s warm compressed sound. I found the Modern compressors good for that but they just weren't stable on my machine.
I use this thing...

Don't remember how when or where or why I got it, but I like it for vocals.

I also use the Modern Antress thing. It's old but it still works for me.

And then it's just basic EQ and delay/reverb.

There's like infinity quadrillion free plugs out there. There's no reason to pay for anything. Just go look. Download them and try them. Keep the ones you like, trash the ones you don't. I've got about a billion plug ins that have never seen the light of day since I got them. I go through my list all the time and I'm like "wtf is this thing". Sometimes I find an old one that works for something I might wanna do and then I never use it again, or it goes into the useful folder.

I know what you mean - I'm just paranoid about downloading spyware/viruses and stuff like that... and I don't like my only PC being cluttered with shite.
