Musicians Suck

Post by Manslick »

Not Headphone friendly = Be prepared for noize.

MUSICIANS SUCK
AND I CAN TELL YOU WHY
THEY KNOW THE SCORE
THEY KNOCK UPON YOUR DOOR

don't let them in

POLITICIANS SUCK
AND I CAN TELL YOU WHY
THEY LIE LIE LIE
THEN THEY CHANGE THE STORY

TOOK THE FRUIT OF MY LABOR
CLAIM THEY DID ME A FAVOR
DO NOT LET THEM NEAR
DO NOT GIVE THEM A BEER

WE THE PEOPLE HAVE NO CHOICE
WE THE PEOPLE HAVE NO VOICE
THEY LIE LIE LIE
THEN THEY CHANGE THE STORY

TRY TO BE YOURSELF
IT DOES NOT WORK
COLORS FLY - YOU DIE

Not a prob for headphones...the panning of drums is a little weird in them though.
Seems there could be a verse for any group or curse in a pick a path interactive version.
Cheers

Ha, that's pretty cool. I like it. I won't give any mix feedback as I'm just listening on my laptop but nice tune which is not like anything else going around - always good to be different. :like:

Yeah, I'm not having a problem with it on headphones either.

These are live drums, right? How did you end up with the unusual panning?

It sound like there's a lot of mouth noise going on, which I always find upsetting

I like the harmonies in the later choruses. That's a good range for your voice.

This is good! I'm on headphones.
Its a bit of a weird song so hard to give proper mix feedback.
As a couple of people have already said though the only thing that really bothers me is that the vocal gets very spitty and hissy - given just how bright that is though you could probably just get away with low passing the lead vocal.

It's a really cool overall sound. I'm hearing the clicks on the vocals too - moreso in the second half of the song.

Some pitchiness, but it kind of fits with the song.

The low end is a little light, but again, I think it fits the song well.

So today I came up with a outro vamp that modulates to G from E with a play on the words "don't let them in" riff.

Jarring for a transition but it gets the idea across - ha let me out.

MusiciansSuck (and I can tell you why) RR.mp3

The outro guitar riffs should be better.

Weird is my thing brother. I am happy you noticed.

Yes my passion gets in my way in the moment and spit and hiss will get on the record. I think I stripped all that shit out, but maybe not.

Many thanks from afar bro.

Drum pan was not deliberate.
I was in a mood (poo poo) and so in a hurry to get it down.
I had the mics set for one take, then got excited and did another take.
In the end I noticed it and preempted it with the "not a headphone mix" bullshit.

Yes I get you about the pick a path. Pick your target and let it rip - fuck em all. :jam:

No issues on my headphones man! Sounds awesome. I like the wongo drum mix kinda. It balances out with some of the noises you have going on over on the left. Kinda cool. Some element of the vocal processing and stuff sounds like one of those rainstick things. Anyone else hear that.

overall a good tune and interesting mix. I don't have many nits at all.

Love the do not give them a beer line hahaha. I can relate to that from days of yore.

Thanks bro. appreciate the feedback. yeah this is rough, as I'm learning from other places.
Gots to learn to rein in my passion when recording.
But when it comes, I feel a need to get it down in the moment.
Not always successful.
And now that I have a song, the thought of redoing it is repulsive.
I need a shrink.
or a drink.
ya think?
and I did say be prepared for noize

This is okay. The vocals are really crispy and hot. I guess that's fine for how quirky and staccato this arrangement is.

It could use something going on in the low end though. I hear something bass-like happening but it needs more attention.
