What's the next challenge?

Post by vomitHatSteve »

It's been almost 18 months since the last challenge. I feel like we're about due for one!

Man I'd started the "do a song in the style of another song of the same name" challenge. But then the collarbone happened and I never got back to it. I still need to finish that one.

That was so long ago that my song for that has already been published on physical media and gone out of print!

Well I'm still gonna do it because I think my idea is pretty snazzy but...one of these days.

I was just thinking the same thing lately. I've had a couple of ideas, and I occasionally think up random things that'd make interesting challenge ideas (in my mind, at least :)). If nobody beats me to it over the next couple of weeks I might lay one out there and see if anybody is interested.

I was thinking about this too.
I had two ideas:
1. Cover a hit song from pre-1960.
2. Cover a Billboard top 10 song (post 1970) but put it into 7:4 time.

I like this one. That would be easy. :coolstorybro:

Oh yeah? The guy who stans the ramones thinks he could pull off an updated version of a song from the classic rock and roll or doo-wop era? I dunno, seems like it could be a stretch! :D

Another fun one would to transpose a really happy song to its relative minor or a complete dirge to its relative major.

I've got what I'd do for the pre-60s challenge. It's convoluted and over-engineered, and I've needed an excuse to finish the project for years now.

I was thinking it'd be interesting to learn a riff or part of a song backwards, and see if it can serve as a jumping-off point for coming up with a new song.

If any of you end up with a new track called Mine O Child Sweet, I'll know what happened :D
