Love it!

We've got a growing uke collection at our house. My wife loves them, but I've learned that she has no intention of actually learning to play them. So I think our collection is complete. I'll refrain from showing yours to my wife, else I'll be installing yet another wall hanger by Monday.

heck yeah!

Is there a Jackson "Flying-V" uke? You need one of those to really shred on, I think.

I consider ukeleles an abomination against the natural order, but if I had to have one, a Jazzmaster uke would be pretty cool... except they're never cool.

You know, I felt the same way for a long time. I only decided to teach them because I hated the recorders squeaking so much. 20 students randomly strumming nylon is easier to bear for me then the squealing of plastic flutes.

But after playing it for a while it really has grown on me. It will never, ever replace the guitar, but in certain situations I have found that I am quite found of the sound of the uke. Baritone ukes I have found are a pretty good option for very young guitar players as they are tuned like the bottom four strings of a guitar.

I have a 3.5 year old pet human. I concur with this.

Next summer, Gerg spends months gold-flecking his uke

I've got a bari-uke. It's a great little instrument. Works well as a travel guitar. Plus, they're just a fun, relaxed instrument to noodle around on.

I can't play a uke. I've never gotten on board with the modern uke movement. Ukes have been co-opted as quaint little instruments for twee girls and hipster chicks. And sure I like it just fine when twee girls and hipster chicks do their thing with them. They just aren't for me.

haha, I have two of them with 16+ years of experience. :lollers2:

Interestingly my youngest who has never showed any interest in music or playing has recently taken up the Uke. I challenged him one evening that I could teach him to play in 10 minutes. Sure enough I showed him a few simple chord shapes and left him to it fully thinking it would lead to nothing. To my surprise he has stuck at it and now there months on he is well on the way to being proficient. I'm about to move him on to guitar.

I was that impressed I made him one for Christmas.

This reminds me - I need to lower the nut on my Uke to make it more playable as opposed to just irritating.

If Fender releases a Precision Bass version of a ukulele, do you think that they'll name it the P-uke?
