Foot-triggered samplers

Post by vomitHatSteve »

Any recommendations? I'm starting to look for one, but I don't honestly know where to look.

They must exist, but the closest I can think of seeing is Geddy Lee's organ-pedal synthesizer

maybe more of a foot controller ..... possibly MIDI?
Then it'd just control a sampler program.
Be easier to find than a bespoken foot triggered sampler I would think

I definitely don't want to be bringing a computer on stage. I guess maybe a raspberry pi would be ok... alright. I'll investigate that some more. Thanks

I gotcha actually.
One of the reasons I use a keyboard for my backing tracks is to avoid having a computer up there .....
just don't like the way it looks .... karaoke-ish

There has to be something self contained like what you're wanting ..... let us know what you find ..... I'd be curious about that

Will do.

It might end up having to be a high-end looping pedal. It looks like a lot of those allow samples.

I should ask my Sweetwater rep for recommendations too.

Well dang. My Sweetwater rep recommends I buy a 900 sampler and a midi pedal to control it.

Fortunately, the band I might have actually needed it for just got our old keyboardist to come back, so he can handle the bleep-bloopy stuff.

I was going to suggest that... mine plays samples, but it's pretty limited. Mind you it's over a decade old but at the time it was the top model (Boss RC-50) going. And loading them was a pain. Surely looping tech has evolved a lot since then and there will be more betterer pedals available.

Josh at Sweetwater helpfully suggested a $900 stand alone sampler and a MIDI pedal to control it or a $900 looper pedal.

So the looper probably is the best option, but maybe I'll opt for one of the slightly lower-end $300-$400 ones.
