To keep from getting out of practice, here's a thing I recorded this morning:

rpb_rawScratchMix.mp3

The guitars and bass are live, the drums a quick hack at programming since my kit is in storage. I'm not looking for feedback really (though if you have some, I'm all ears), just throwing something up.

Lol it's still less satanic than whatever rituals Katie Perry and Taylor Swift do in their performances. 😂

Guits and bass are pretty nice.
The fast and loose drum programming shows, but eh. That wasn't your goal.

I've got a whole jam-packed folder of things I record when I'm feeling out of practice and just want to jam. Every once in a while, something is worth developing further.

I like this one, especially the guitars. That's a unique kind of crunchy clean tone. It almost sounds like it's direct into a console or something.

My "usual", a tele-clone-ster played on the bridge pickup, into a Vox AD30VT (an early-gen modeling amp in combo form w/10" speaker), and mic'd in this case with an Audix f2 dynamic mic, comparable to an SM57. This is the "boutique clean" model preset which I then tweaked a bit - you can tweak gain, volume, treble/mid/bass EQ. The amp has built-in digital effects too, but I didn't use any f/x here (I can get better sounds from plug-ins on the DAW than I can from that amp).

The bass was a p-bass clone, played w/a pick, into the same amp/mic setup.

One of the wonders of having a pocket-computer-communication-device with me most of the time is that my "ideas folder" has never been more full. ;) When I was a kid, the folder was one of these - https://www.google.com/search?q=cassette+tape+recorder

Pretty clean guitar tone recording. Not too shabby.
