Pedals.....advice and opinions needed.
Pedals.....advice and opinions needed.
Until physical health made playing guitar extremely uncomfortable I'd been only using my acoustics but recently found that the action on electrics made playing bearable, so I'm attempting to start on a new journey.
As I try and get the fingers doing what they used to do I decided to start using some pedals to play with sounds, but not being a "pedal guy" I need some guidance on the order to place them in the signal chain. What I have temporarily laid out is.......:
Tremolo
Vibrato
Phaser
Noise suppressor
Delay
Reverb
.......a volume pedal is on order to go after the reverb.
Advice/suggestions will be appreciated.

Re: Pedals.....advice and opinions needed.
that's pretty much the order I'd use ..... delay and reverb last ...... modulations after any dirt boxes
never used a noise suppressor so i have zero idea about them.

Re: Pedals.....advice and opinions needed.
By noise suppressor do you mean gate?
If so, I'd put that first.
The rest of the order seems about right.
If you have an fx loop, the delay and reverb might go well in the loop. The rest can go to the front of the amp.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.
No "dirt boxes" planned at this stage and no effects loop on the amp I'll initially be using. Creative juices are pointing me towards a more ambient/moody path once I get my (playing) shit back together meanwhile I'm assembling a palette of effects.

Re: Pedals.....advice and opinions needed.
Well since starting this thread I've acquired some new toys, a Boss vibrato, Behringer reverb, Boss volume pedal AND a Focusrite Scarlet 18i20.
I had never had the inclination to get into recording with computer and software, preferring to work with R2R and my Fostex D160 through the console, anyways I've got one hell of a learning curve ahead .

Re: Pedals.....advice and opinions needed.
Hopefully not too bad. If you get Reaper, then that's what almost everyone here uses, so there'll be plenty of help available.
Re: Pedals.....advice and opinions needed.
Thanks mate, Reaper is a consideration although the Focusrite "comes with" Ableton Lite, considering Matt (son) uses Ableton I'm going to give it a go first.
I'm hoping to use the digital setup for initial "foundation" tracks which I can then take downstairs to the studio and transfer them into my analogue/digital realm for further development, it's going to be a work in progress .

Install Reaper and you'll have everything you need for home recording unless you decide you need to start recording drums and other things at the same time.Ausrock wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 3:12 am Well since starting this thread I've acquired some new toys, a Boss vibrato, Behringer reverb, Boss volume pedal AND a Focusrite Scarlet 18i20.

Re: Pedals.....advice and opinions needed.
That is a really clean setup!
Re: Pedals.....advice and opinions needed.
Yeah - you've got that set up really tidily. Nice.
I like a decent pedal board - it just makes everything more useable to have things laid out well.

Nice. Lots of timing effects!
Re: Pedals.....advice and opinions needed.
That's a pedalboard that speaks to me - no dirtboxes.
