Flangers
Flangers
Following on from Greg saying he wants a flanger I think I'm gonna get one.
Basically, putting my new little "downstairs practice rig" together - I'm probably going to add the HoF Reverb from my current board to it, 'cos I never use that when recording and probably my OCD 'cos when I'm recording I mostly use the Han-Taun (Klone) for overdrive unless I'm double tracking identical parts when I use the OCD on one of the guitars.
So, I already have a decent phaser, chorus and delay. So I'm gonna get a Flanger for something to mess about with.
Its going to be a relatively cheap one and so far I've decided that I quite fancy this:
https://www.andertons.co.uk/tone-city-a ... nger-pedal
Seems to sound pretty good and have pretty simple controls.
Anyone got any other recommendations for a cheap/reasonably priced flanger that doesn't sound crap? I had a Danelectro Fab Flange a few years ago and it was the worst thing since Pol Pot.
There's also this:

I'm inherently weary of something this cheap which has this many options, part of me things its just 10 versions of shite... but then part of me thinks that there just must be something useful in there.

Re: Flangers
I haven't used that many. In fact I haven't used that much gear generally. I've owned two. One was cheap and good, one was even cheaper and was the shittest pedal ever made.
Re: Flangers
i guess it just depends on what you want from it. i have a very specific sound that i want and expect from a flanger and it has to happen a certain way. not any ol flanger seems to be able to do it. so for me most flangers are disappointing.

Re: Flangers
This could be a fun thread ..... I'ma ordering the Joyo today and next week I'll make some clips of my various flangers ..... perhaps other modulation devices too.
Re: Flangers
Ah, I was watching vids of that a week or three ago local price is US$47.88 or AUS$65

Re: Flangers
Thats really cheap!
I'm pretty sure its the same one as this:
https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton ... langer.htm
Which is only £25 quid in the UK... I went out for a couple of pints with a mate of mine yesterday evening and we spent more than that.

Re: Flangers
I have flangers in three digital multi effects machines. I'll have to test them all tomorrow just to know whether i have something that would get near the Greg Benchmark.
Cheers

MXR M117R and Ibanez FL9. I currently own the MXR and once owned the Ibanez. Both awesome pedals.
Don't buy something shit, it's not worth it.
PS, for the record, I don't think the phaser you have is good at all.

Re: Flangers
I could possibly stretch to 90 quid for the ibanez. I don't fancy spending 170 quid on the MXR
Re: Flangers
My Phaser? I have an MXR Small Stone now which I actually quite like.
I used to have a cheapo Tone City Summer Orange which was indeed crap.
If you make it to this area in a few weeks you'll have to have a go on my rig.
Re: Flangers
shit that reminds me i havent turned my flashback on either. why the fuck do i even have any pedals?
