I'm going to assume, seeing that stringing set up involves two modifications to the guitar, that whoever did it had some sort of reason to do so - we just don't happen to know what it is.

there was a clear pic of it somewhere a while back but the only one I could find was this .... but even without the photobucket overlay it's almost like an Escher headstock
