Free Tape Emulator from Focusrite

Post by musicturtle »

If you own a Focusrite they are offering a free license to a tape emulator plug in from Black Rooster audio.

Black Rooster seems to offer a few other free plugins on their site including an amp sim.

The good ones add a mild "warm" distortion. I think it's a good thing for bass, vocals, snare drums, stuff like that.

This one has a wow/flutter knob that adds some "wurble" like you sometimes hear from tape machines.

It goes for $89 normally so not a bad freebie

I use tape emulation on everything. I track with it, and it's the last thing on my mastering chain. Just makes things sound less digital, helps glue the tracks together. It's a subtle but (for me) important effect. I just have to remember to turn the tape hiss off.

Thanks musicturtle ,
I've downloaded it. I'll discover if I can install it while off line presently.
I use PSP Vintage warmer 2 on buses but it doesn't have the wow & flutter options which will be a great advantage when setting up a fake double tracking track as well as whatever "warmth" it offers.
Cheers
