Neal Peart took FREAK and doubled it I think. I'm told he played every piece in a gig but I reckon some would've been just the once per.
Cheers

Funny though is I don't "groove" at all. I've had lots of people say lots of things about my drumming, but "groove" has never been one of them. I don't groove.

Where's the mouse and keyboard? I'm that kind.
Re: types of drumbers chart
I dunno .... to me 'groove' means getting in the pocket with the bass player .... basically playing right in time ..... you do that so, to me, you 'groove'.
no .... you don't do funky grooves and such but that's only because you don't play that music.
If you wanted to you could.
having said that, I have no doubt that no one has ever referred to you as 'Groovy Greg'' until me ...... just another example of me being ahead of the curve!
.
It's coming Groovy Greg ....... it's coming.

Lol. That's what I always say. I don't do funky jazzy syncopated shit that most people call "groove". No love taps or accents or ghost notes. I do play rock solid on time drums that rock like a motherfucker. That's my kind of "groove".Lt. Bob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 12:04 pm

I just set up my kit for the first time in a couple months, and I set it up like the "groover" this time. I never liked that small rack tom so I just left it off and put the other rack tom there instead. My kit is the small version of the Stage Custom so it was 10, 12, 14 for the toms and that 10" tom is kinda useless.
vomitHatSteve hey I started with the mouse and keyboard too! When I got frustrated with that, I got a MIDI controller keyboard. That got irritating too, so I got an e-kit. And finally I graduated to an acoustic kit that I can barely manage to play. Somehow through it all, my drums got better, then worse sounding

Unfortunately right now I'm the electric, but if I had a real set it would be the groover. And I'd still barely play the toms. I do play all that funky, jazzy, syncopated shit.
I second the "Groovy Greg" thing.

Groovy Greg... nice. Santana cover?
When it comes to drums, I'm probably chaotic and shy.

Haha. Groovy Greg. That is awesome. I hear that name and all i can think of is that weird drummer guy with his arms flailing all over the place. He was all over the internet and had a guest appearance on that show 'The Office' a handful of years ago.

It's kind of a shame that's all he's known for because he's really an amazing drummer.WhiskeyJack wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 1:25 pm Haha. Groovy Greg. That is awesome. But I guess being known for that is better than being unknown.
