Acoustic Cover - Letter G - Green Day

Post by musicturtle »

Here is the latest - JD01 I almost have "Sorrow" down, hopefully get it up in a week or so, thanks for the suggestion.

This time I used my Sennheiser e609 on the guitar. Wanted to use a dynamic mic here to round off and thicken the acoustic a bit.

I'm having flashbacks to middle school and high school graduation now.

Tony - I think you're supposed to downtune to the top E to D for that one! Bit late for a critique I know

Not sure about the tuning but I definitely put my own twist on this one. Strumming pattern is different and he rarely hits the high e string.

Sounds good turtle. I've heard the song a million times but I've not noticed that the top is downtuned... I'll have to go and listen more closely to the original now. Works fine as you've done it anyway. :like:

I had no idea this song was called Good Riddance!! HA! Always thought it was called time of your life. I thought it was a great cover. You lent yourself to it really well. I'm not a huge fan of carbon copy covers anyways. Some creative liberties must be taken when doing covers. The mic choice on the guitar worked out well. I thought it sounded great.

musicturtle the Sorrow song you mentioned that JD01 is it the Bad Religion version? i'd second that as i have tried it a few times and i find the play though a bit tough. Mind you i don't practice i just try to hammer it out via memory and i suck to put it plainly. It it is a deceptively complex little dity. Would definitely be cool to see how you tackle it.

Thanks guys.

WhiskeyJack Yeah the song is from Bad Religon. There is an acoustic version by their singer but I like it more in the original key for my voice. So it will sort of be a cross between the two I think.
