Since I've taken advantage and picked everyone's brain on the home recording front, I thought I'd introduce myself through some pictures. I actually play gigs quite a bit but am currently trying to scale down a bit so that I have more time to concentrate on recording and songwriting. I do a lot of looping with my cello for live gigs. I can't really figure out how to attach specific pictures on here so, here's a link to the photo gallery on my website:

And, if you'd like some video here's one of my favorite arrangements:

The video is obviously done at home but, this is how it is live too. . . Anyhow, just wanted to say hi and let you know I'm not just another pretty face

Alison - cool stuff. You wrangle the cello really well - it looks like a natural thing for you. I'm impressed with your looper dexterity too.
I thought I'd better up my game: here're two vids that feature cello better mixed and recorded. the GOOD cello is my tutor again and the lesser is me but they sit better in the mixes.

That one has the cello piezo into an FX unit as well as mic'd

This one is straight mic'd jobbies. I was impressed that I managed to reach the final note in time with Miriam's playing - that outro was done with two mic's live to tape.

Hey Ray, those were very cool songs. Enjoyed them both. . . the cello lines were really well done. Not sure I could distinguish between a "good" cello and ? Like the mix very much. No straining to hear it . How did you mic the cello in the second song? The tone was very nice!rayc wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 3:21 am Alison - cool stuff.
