A few pics from a Christmas gig

Post by Bill L »

So one of the bands I play in just did a Christmas gig to raise funds for a youth arts program at the venue that hosted it (we've played here a number of times). The highlight for me was getting to play my bouzouki for a couple of tunes. We did it as a 3 piece: acoustic guitar, mandolin and bouzouki. I used the bouzouki as more of a baritone mandolin (I de-tuned the thing and used a standard mandolin tuning). And I thought I'd include a couple of other pics cause, why not.

Playing the bouzouki:

With a Santa hat (playing the '76 Custom):

And wearing proper Christmas foot attire:

If you wear a Santa hat while playing a guitar, does that make it a Santana hat?

Thanks guys! In case anyone wants to hear my bouzouki, here are a couple of tracks from a rehearsal we did a couple of days before. There are a few flubs and the mandolin makes a lot of noise but I only recorded it so I could practice it before the show. And as can be expected, I didn't have a chance to do that before the gig. :spacepalm: We rehearsed at sound check and tightened up a few spots. I wish I had a copy of the gig. I left my Zoom H4n at home.

Thanks Boob.

I used a Zoom R24 to track. All of the instruments had pickups so I used direct boxes on all of them. I didn't do much else except for leveling the signals. For what it I needed, it was perfect.

Nice work Bill.

I think we've found our official Rebel Santa Claus...

Who wants to be first to sit on Bill's knee and ask for a puppy? :lollers:
