The MuttPups "Pedigree" Range.

Post by muttley »

For about a year now you wonderful people have been discussing Mutts Pickups and many of you have even taken the wonderful step of re-homing one or two of Mutts Pups..

There has been quite a lot of discussion and a lot of questions and answers in various places about the pups and there is a lot of information scattered about the forum in general which relates to the qualities and properties of each and every one of them. Over the course of the last year certain styles and designs of pup have proved popular with you all and will now from the basis of what we are going to be calling the "Pedigree" range.

The Pedigree range will be made exactly as the original pickups which have featured here and wound as per the notes in Mutt's journal.

As with all things pedigree related, in Mutts world the pups must meet certain criteria to qualify for Pedigree status and once they do they will be available for you all to re-home or to use as a base mark when ordering your own MuttPup made to your own spec. You can simply go for the pedigree option safe in the knowledge that you will be getting exactly what has been tried and tested by your peers here at Recording Rebels and has proven to provide excellent results or you can specify a Pedigree option with slight changes to any of the spec. Hopefully this will make it easier for everyone when deciding what MuttPup maybe right for them and it will give Mutt something to refer you all to when you are considering re-homing a MuttPup.

To qualify for MuttPup Pedigree status the design must;
  • have been featured here as a re-homed pup,
  • been installed and reviewed by one of the members here,
  • Have at least one tone clip recorded by one of the members here,
  • Have incorporated an element of design by one of the members here,
I shall be announcing the first MuttPup's that have attained Pedigree status in the next few days and be listing them in a sticky thread where you will be able examine their qualities and hopefully hear what other members have recorded with them. Before then you can have your say in the poll above. Ultimately Mutt hopes to have a MuttPupFest and you will be able to vote for your favorite Pup and award it "Best in Show" status. Just a bit of fun but Mutt WILL be giving away prizes....

Lastly Mutt would like to thank you all for your invaluable contribution to making MuttPups one of the industries best pickup choices. An increasingly poorly kept secret. MuttsPups are getting out there in the world.

Finally Mutt would like to commend you all for being part of this pioneering journey to tone utopia.

Mutt...

This is a great idea, Mutt. :D By the way, my B90 is a neck pup and My Bubba Muttbucker is a bridge. Did you do it the opposite way round on purpose?

I've gone for my Muttbucker - I never knew a humbucker could have so much clarity and the single coil sound is fucking ace. Plus, it works extremely well blended with the B90. I need to do some clips to prove it.

The Gerg, obviously!

Nothing barks and snarls with bite and punch and clarity like a P90, and with all the P90s out there, I chose a Mutt90 and rock it religiously.

And I have two of them in different guitars. And shit tons of recorded music with them. Bam. Greg for the win! :D

The JD Muttbucker obviously. It managed to make my Blackstar sound good in the end... You can't get higher praise than that!

Greg and Bubba could have plugged electric oboes into their Marshalls and made rock n roll!

Just for WJ so he can sleep well. In order of production.

Bubba's B90
Gerg's Mutt90 x2
JD's MuttBucker x1
Bubba's MuttBucker
JD's MuttBucker #2

In between times there were others like Lt's pups, WJ's Pups which dont qualify for Pedigree status (yet) for the reasons listed.

Now go vote you ole' floater you.....:)
