actually a Jag is shorter scale length than a gibby .... they're only 24 inches
:coolstorybro:

Yeh, but they stuck an extra fret on there and went the full 22..... :jam:

Here is one of the Reverb ones i looked at a while ago actually.

It is a Warmoth body from back when before Gibson got all gestapo on them over body styles and stuff. But you could easily have a tele pick up in the neck position instead of a P90? Obviously. if you can dream it you can do it. You may have Gibby purists go up one side of you and down the other but would you actually care?

That's pretty cool actually, dan.

Also, I reckon the meteora would look cooler with a headstock a bit like that

I'm finishing up an offset build for some one at the moment. It aint a million miles from that. If I remember I will post up a pic tomorrow.... It has a bucker in the bridge and a ripper twin at the neck, much like miners frankinstrat.

Right?! Like you kind of want to cringe a little bit just looking at it but then you stop and think about what you are looking at and it could be a rad little showpiece workhorse!

I would probably opt for the full tele pick up configuration over that one with the P90. But for painting a picture it conveys the message. Image

Okay, I finally got my hands on this Meteora. Spent good time with one today, and..............meh.

First off, it's beautiful in person, but it's smaller than it looks in pictures. I expected it to be like Firebird-sized. It's not quite that big. The one I handled was more brown-ish than the butterscotch blonde look in most pics of the guitar.
Secondly, it's two thousand fucking dollars.
Thirdly, did I mention the stupid price for a basic-ass bolt-on neck Fender?
Fourthly, it is very comfortable to play. The forearm carve on the top of the body is damn near perfect. Feels good standing and sitting.
Fifthly, the neck is quite robust. It's pretty chunky.
Sixthly, the pickups are typical Tele pickups. Weak output for anything other than cleany cleans. But it sounded good for that.

I played it through an old Marshall 1974 18w tremolo amp.

Well thats good to know. Two grand seems just a bit dumb. 1200 maybe 1300 for an american made Fender something or other. Not 2000.

The chunky neck sounds cool to me though really.

Cool update!!!

So, there's a Mexican version with a pair of Humbuckers and a nice bridge arrangement:

That price is a little bit steep for a Mexican methinks. I wasn't really in love with this guitar at first but seeing it in surf green in the this photo really illustrates a flow in design that i am sort of really liking now.

Still not dropping 1400cad on a mexican made fender though.

I think its a pretty cool looking design. 850 quid is a lot of money though. I was previously struggling to justify a Mexican Tele at 500 quid and then eventually picked one up for just over 200 quid.

While in Edmonton for an appointment for little wee Calamari i got a text from a friend who told me his shop had a Meteora in stock. Was one of the newer player plus models. Also was a right handed model. Despite it feeling a bit weird in my lap, it played and sounded really great. The humbucker could be bucking or single coil. I really liked that. Kind of has me gassing.

I know myself better to know i likely won't buy one but still. It was a very cool guitar.

don't you have some?

I'm building a StewMac offset (jazzmaster) kit that comes with two P90s but they have another with 2 buckers.
I chose the one with P90s because I prefer a 25.5" scale and the P90 one has that while the one with 'buckers is a gibby scale 24.75"

The kits are on sale for 2 bills and are pretty decent.

Also Guitar Fetish has shitloads of bodies

And while we're at it ..... have you guys seen this thing?
6000 bucks !!?!
