14:1 tuners on Gibsons

Post by ido1957 »

I have 18:1 tuners on my three other guitars - even the Kramer which has a locking nut.
I find it a pain to fine tune my Gibson, the ratio is too low as compared. I mean it works but....
I guess since mine is a couple of years old swapping tuners won't matter w/respect to the warranty anymore.
Time to scour the Grovers etc to find a like 18:1 model that doesn't require drilling.
People want something for nothing, they want it right now. Either they can't tell quality or don't care but feel it is important that everyone agrees with them.

I checked to see what was on my new guitar and it's 18:1 - it was one of the first things that struck me about it hen I was comparing it to the 91 Standard, which probably has 14:1 - so much easier to fine tune! So I guess you need whatever they're putting on new Gibsons as standard issue these days.
