And I'm also looking at a Fender Deluxe my buddy is selling. It's the blackface reissue that's unmodded. Again, short money for what they go for around here. He's going to let me try it out for a while before I make my decision. It's going to be between the Deluxe or possibly a used Vox AC 30 that I can get at a pretty good price. Even better, if things work out right, I may be able to score both of them for less $1000 combined! :chillin
Goddamn, do it. :coolstorybro:
Just pulled the trigger on the Deluxe. It's a '65 reissue, all stock, no mods. Jensen Special Design speaker (which will probably get replaced).

I'm going to send it over to my amp guy for a quick look and have him make a mod. I want the reverb and tremolo to be active for both channels. It sounds great right now so I can't wait to get it back.

And I'm heading to Guitar Center now to possibly pick up the AC 30. I have a gift card that's been floating around for while so it should only be around $500 out of pocket. So that'll be 2 amps (over $2000 retail new) that I managed to get for $1000 out of pocket. The only additional charges look to be foot switches, the mod and possibly some covers as these will get used a lot.

I really wanted one of the new Marshall Origin amps to be on my list, but now, I'm not sure...I already knew I'd need a pedal to push the gain where I'd want, but none of the clips I've heard "wow" me...Don't get me wrong, they're not terrible (some of them anyway), but again, they just don't "wow" me...

I understand this is a $5-600 amp, & I shouldn't expect it to be more than that, but unless I hear some amazing sounding clips, I'm probably gonna pass on one...

If/when the German guy from "Session" on YT does a video on one will probably be the moment of truth for me...While I can't really understand a word the guy says, all the videos I've watched of him are pretty accurate...When I was thinking of buying the Mini Jubilee, Greg suggested I watch/listen to that guy's review/demo, & it was pretty spot-on...

So again, unless I hear some great tones from one of these amps, I'm probably gonna re-write my list...

Just watched the video, & while it's a little better than most, I think I can get the same ballpark tones from my Mini Jubilee...

Not to step in where I really have no experience and confuse things, but in a video I ran across a few days ago, the amp sounds so much better than the other review videos. I wonder what the difference is? Variable QC between the amps? Different guitars/pickups? Different set-ups for recording the reviews? Hmmm...anyway, give this a watch/listen:

Lol it's still less satanic than whatever rituals Katie Perry and Taylor Swift do in their performances. 😂

Dude, stepping in/voicing your opinion is exactly what this whole place is about... :cheers1:

I've watched about every Origin video that's out there, & I agree the vid you linked sounds better than most...But I'm still not convinced enough to buy one...There has been a really big expectation put on this amp, possibly too much way before anyone even heard it & I'm probably guilty of that myself...

Most of the differences I hear in the Origin videos are the actual recorded sound...Some sound pretty good, others, not so much...I think it just comes down to capturing a better representation of what it really sounds like in each individual's recording...

I gotta say, it does sound like a Marshall (lol...it should), but more of a general/generic/overall thing...It doesn't nail the sounds of their iconic amps like the SLP/JTM/JMP/etc, but if I think about it, it was never meant to...That's a pretty tall order for any amp unless it's actually one of 'em...But again, I'm probably putting too much expectations on the Origin, because when you compare the prices, the amps I listed are about 2-3 times the cost...It's just not a realistic expectation for a $5-600 amp to sound like a $1500 amp...

The amp doesn't have as much gain on tap as I'd normally use, but I knew that already...I thought I might go the pedal route with the 50w head, but I've not heard anything I couldn't get my Mini Jubilee to do with or without the pedals...

Guess I just need to keep playing the waiting game, & keep saving for a while... :minernuggs:

Dammit miner, quit fucking around with these dumb Origins and use whatever money you have to spend on an amp towards another goddamn Chupacabra! You know that's the amp you want. :coolstorybro:

I know...I know... :facepalm2: :lollers2:

I'm just being the cheap fucker I always have been dude...I'd been slowly adding to my pedal board, & thought I could get one of the dirt pedals plus an Origin, but unless somebody pulls a magic rabbit tone out of their hat, the Origin probably ain't gonna do it...

I had the biggest part of it when I found the Mini Jubilee, but thought that was too good of a deal to pass on, so I shot the wad on that...
I kinda regret buying the Mini Jubilee in a way, because I might've had "the" amp by now...But, the Mini Jubilee is a great little amp & I'm very happy with it...
I can't even bring myself to type it's name... :lollers:

There's some other bullshit going on that I thought would be a lot better, but is actually worse now...Seems my luck is always in, & it's always bad...For the last few years it has been anyway...

I'll just have to dig in & keep on keepin' on dude...Eventually I'll get another...uhhh...ummm....I can't even type it's name... :minernuggs:

Origin - where you have to use the heaps of gain AND boost to get within a mile of a plexi.

I know dude, & thanks a bunch...It's not like I don't have any gear at all man, I'm really grateful to be in the position I'm in...All day everyday I get to do about the only thing I've ever really wanted to do since I was a kid: play my music :coolstorybro: So I'm basically living my dream...

It's a shame I basically had to die to get here :lollers:, but I'm doin' alright man, it could always be worse...

I've got some more strat/Mini Jubilee clips coming tomorrow...
I don't know what you guys will think of them, but since the strat upgrade, I think it sounds glorious... :jam:

Bill, I've got virtually no use for it, but I would love a loud clean amp like that just for playing about with.

I did grab the AC 30.

I had the Vox, Deluxe and my 71 Twin all running side by side yesterday. Really got to spend some time with them. I love them all. :punk: Thankfully, they each have their own voice and character. And I have room and use for them all.

That's a bad ass stable of combos you got there. Congrats. I love AC30s. If my Fender build goes well, I might try an AC30 next.
