That sounds pretty great to me, mate. Listening on my monitors nice and loud now.

Really does clean up well and like you said, you can really hear all of the strings ringing out even when they're on full.
You've gotta be happy with them.

Curious "Senn MD421 on axis, on grill, dead center" do you actually mean that you have it right on the centre of the cap?

Wow the combo gets really clean and twangy bright in a good way of course. The Wizard lick was perfect for the tone at that point - well done.
Magnificent creatures BUT there's a lot the hands are doing to make it so.
Cheers

Thanks, yeah they tick all of the boxes for my pickup wants and needs.

Yup, dead fucking center. The G12-65 is a speaker with a gigantic dust cap. You can get away with it on those types of speakers. It also has the cone mic to balance it out. The natural phase cancellation between the two mics, even with them being in phase, kills the extreme top end. It's still pretty bright, but in a good way that works in a mix with no effort.

Thanks Ray. I was really pleased with the combined sound of the pickups. That's something I don't often do but it's a usable option now. This basic Les Paul just became the most versatile guitar in the universe. But it will still just be used for my caveman basic rock and roll :D

I have that happen a lot if I try to attach multiple things dude...I just always thought it was something on my end like always...

Clips sound great dude, I'm surprised with the neck/bridge together, it gives it a fatness not possible with just the bridge, but it's not tubby either...I say well done on the install, & of course, Mutt is a diabolical, super-mad scientist who must sprinkle his pickups with some kind of voodoo magic...

The intro/first part of the first clip sounds spot-on dude...I'm not gonna say anything, I'm curious to see if anyone knows what song that is...I instantly knew...

Gotta say, your tones were never bad to begin with, but you're refining & polishing them up to another level dude...Well done... :minernuggs:

No witchcraft Jdude, throw 2 mics up & see for yourself, what the Gerg says here is true...Once you get both mics in phase, flip the polarity button in Reaper & you'll hear what's been canceled out...You can eq your tracks just by moving the mics...

Thanks dude. Gonna do some tracks pretty soon.

It probably won't work as well with your setup because your V30s have tiny dustcaps. Dead center is a dead zone on speakers like that. But you can get something similar if you go dustcap/edge with one mic and full cone with the other.

Or you can try one dead center and one right next to it off axis. That's usually a pretty good setup for metal tones.

I've heard Glen Fricker doing that but it just sounds like shite to me.

:lollers2:
I gotta give Glenn credit because he does pretty good with what he plays/records/mixes, but I just can't get into that type of music personally...He can be a first-class tool, but I think he just does that shit to stir the pot & get more views...

Jdude, using 2 mics can be a good way to kill the dreaded fizz that rears it's ugly head in high-gain sounds...

Like Gerg said, try it dude, it may open up a whole 'nother can of worms for you to dig into...Whether those particular worms are good or bad is up to you though...

As some of you may remember I acquired an Epiphone Les Paul SILVERBURST! a couple of months ago. I then proceeded to immediately get tendinitis in my left elbow and wrist so playing guitar was really put on the shelf. Anyway some rest did it some good and now I am playing again.

Here is my first solo clip with the new axe. Feedback on the tone is appreciated.

Disclaimer: This is using the stock amp sim that comes with Cubase, the likelyhood of of me getting an amp that is worth recording with anytime soon is very slim so I am going to make the best with what I have.

No EQ or processing on the channel other than the sim.

Thanks

Nothing wrong with this at all dude...That type of guitar sounds are hard (for me) to get with an ampsim I can either get the high-gain or super clean sounding ok, but not the "in-between" stuff...I think you did pretty good here...

That's not bad at all. IMO the top end is a little harsh with that sim, but I'm sure you could tame it down a bit pretty easily. The tone sounds "right" to me though.

Thanks Greg. Yeah there are times, and this is not a joke targeted at our new "friend" when my ear doesnt pick up some of the higher frequencies...could be speakers/headphones, AC DC concerts from long ago or old age. Maybe a combination :)
