Regarding that. I had a song I was working on for a month, but it turned out to be crap once I heard it recorded. Back to the drawing board lol.WhiskeyJack wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 2:32 pm Dang man that looks really good dude. Can't wait ot hear some new stuff.

Re: New Gear Day
So, my KT 76 has a small amount of fax sounding noise introduced ONLY when the output knob is turned high. The input knob doesn’t affect that. I’m not using balanced cables, so I assume it would be worth a try to get some balanced ones. There’s no router or modem in my room. Only my computer and other equipment, which I think would be the source of this noise. If the balanced cables don’t fix this, any ideas?

Re: New Gear Day
Sounds like you could be getting noise in the output stage of the unit. Do you get the noise if you have nothing plugged in the inputs, input gain at zero, output full up?CrowsofFritz wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 7:49 pm So, my KT 76 has a small amount of fax sounding noise introduced ONLY when the output knob is turned high. So this is interesting. Nothing is plugged in except on my patchbay.
Input all the way up, output all the way down = nothing
Input all the way down, output all the way up = standard noise.
Input all the way up, output all the way up = standard noise and fax noises.
So inout controls fax noises while output controls noise.

Re: New Gear Day
Ok so then it seems like you're getting noise in the gain stages. Is there a ground lift? Can you plug it in elsewhere and try it again?CrowsofFritz wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 11:07 am

Re: New Gear Day
I actually think that will solve it. That’s how I solved my exact issue with fax noises in my monitor. I’ll havw to buy another DI box.Greg_L wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 11:18 amOk so then it seems like you're getting noise in the gain stages. Is there a ground lift? Well I satisfied my itch for GAS and bought a Pultec clone. I’ve used it as a plug-in many times but this will be easier.

It’s here!!!
I requested some smarties as the candy and they gave me three bags of just smarties lmao.
Now to play around with it. I’ll post some samples soon!

Well I'm an idiot and forgot to unmute a couple tracks in the RAW part and I didn't save it and its gone.
Here's a track with a bit of EQ and compression. How does it sound?

Finally pulled the trigger on getting a Neumann mic. Potential clients for recording on the side have asked me enough if I have one and that made me get it lmao.

Just a TLM 102?
Man, that's a grand, AUS$900 at the least.
Well done I suppose.

I use an MXL 4000 mostly. I like the high end on it.

Daaaaamn, that’s expensive where you are. I got it for much less than that. Like $300 less at least.

Conversion rate... plus the tyranny of distance etc. You get used to it. Best price I can find locally is $800.CrowsofFritz wrote: ↑Sat Sep 18, 2021 11:33 pmDaaaaamn, that’s expensive where you are. I got it for much less than that. Like $300 less at least.
You can join the small TRR club of Neumann owners. It's you and me so far as I know. I have a KMS104 I use on stage. I didn't buy it, it's way beyond my needs, it was a "significant birthday" present from my cousin, who, coincidentally, is having a significant birthday today. He did his research and came up with that microphone as exactly what I needed in my life. It wasn't, but it's nice to have and I appreciated the effort and expense.
I'd better call him - again - tried before, but he didn't answer.
Re: New Gear Day
Based on David's cheaper price we pay $US581 for an item no doubt built in China, shipped to the USA and then shipped to Australia.CrowsofFritz wrote: ↑Sat Sep 18, 2021 11:33 pmDaaaaamn, that’s expensive where you are. I got it for much less than that. Like $300 less at least.
That's a mark up of $US281 for shipping, storage, import tax, Goods n Services Tax plus traditional Australian "make a killing" pricing.
Beware of Ebay - those units are going for $AUS1K.
Cheers
