Letter C - Jim Croce

Post by musicturtle »

Here is my next installment. This time I just sang and played in front of the mic without plugging in the guitar.

Jim Croce - I've Got a Name - The first of his songs to be released after his untimely passing.

Aced it again Tony.
My missus is a JC fan & I used BBL Brown in class a couple of years back but that's as far as I go - mind you I think I prefer your interpretation/performance to his recording.
Cheers

Could just be my crappy laptop but I'm getting buzzing down the bass end.

Another tune I used to do... :lollers:

From memory I worked out a descending melodic chord sequence where you're picking out the notes - I'll have to dig the book out and see if I can remember it.

Nice work. :like:

I'm painting my apartment at the moment so last thing I need is wires and microphones everywhere, but I haven't forgotten about having a go at this. Practicing a few songs at night... I'll get something up before you get to Z though!

Thanks man....in reference to the buzz...the low end is quite boomy...maybe from the tile floor and painted cinder block in the room where I recorded this.

The picking part is different from the original...just trying to emulate the bass line there while giving it my own twist.

Yeah I think it is my crappy laptop - I was playing one of my own acoustic tunes earlier and it was doing the same thing - so it's not the recording. :like: I'll send you a PM about the song... I got my own notes of it out and started playing it again. I take the capo off and drop it two for vocal reasons, but he undoubtedly did it capo on 2, as you are.
