Hi from Germany
Hi from Germany
I followed the link in rayc's signature in the Band in a Box forum and landed here.
I've been fooling around with home recording for ages. Too many plugins and too little talent so i thought I mmay as well join you guys. At least if I say fuck I won't get attacked by bible bashers.
Cheers
Chris

Fuck fuck fuckity fuck!
I don't know how to say "hello" in German. It probably sounds really mean and violent.
Never mind. I just Googled it. Hallo. What a let down.
so...hallo.

Welcome aboard. We are pretty unfiltered here. Make yourself at home. We can help you with cutting down on plugin options. Can't help you with the talent.CeeBee wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 11:39 am I followed the link in rayc's signature in the Band in a Box forum and landed here.

Hello there! Welcome!
Re: Hi from Germany
I'm going to have to learn how to type ü characters. Oh look, I just did.
Guten Morgen, mein Herr. Willkommen.
I did German at school. Forgotten 99.9% of it. Bubba wittering away on Facebook in German has recalled some of it.

Neun Mal in Zehn werden die jüngeren Generationen bei Google Translate nach einer kleinen Hilfe suchen.
Re: Hi from Germany
If you're going to start speaking German too, can you embed a Google translate widget to help out... Bubba on FB is bad enough!

It's Singood to see you in this realm CeeBee.
I've only had the lightest touch of contact with you "over there".
You recently posted a song with some lovely cello and a classic, whistful British Folk feel.
The world "overhere" is a little more robust and no one is afraid to point out problems or things that need fixing.
A couple of other BIAB folk have come but left soon after as the review climate here is rather more honest - the pat on the back is there while a finger will point to something that needs to be fixed.
Rob4580 was here for a bit. he mainly wanted to sort out his vocal processing and hasn't been back but he def. has improved his vocals and, to be fair, he didn't feel at home.
Another chap who went by BeatleBoy lasted less than a day as he wasn't able to handle calm, honest discussion of things he refused to see & hear. He went totally bonkers and abused folk before flying away.
I'm sure you know how to operate in a forum and how to get the best from within a new circumstance.
Enjoy.

Re: Hi from Germany
I welcome critic and advice on my mixes. I can't do much about my singing and playing as I'm stuck with it. I do everything on my laptop with earphones as I can't make noise in the appartment. What I miss in the BIAB forum is honest critique, I read some of the comments and then listen to the track and think WTF? There are some really good talented folk over there though, and some of the stuff they get out of BiaB amazes me.
Re: Hi from Germany
That's good. Just keep in mind that people aren't trying to just insult you, but give you honest feedback to help you improve your mixes and get better.
The Beatleboy meltdown is still one of my favourite threads! A few of us mentioned a hi-hat artefact that was in his mix clear as day and he was denying it was there... usually in ALLCAPS!
