NAD! Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus
Well, I have wanted one of these since the 80s when they were first manufactured and some of my favourite guitarists were using them. A mate of mine up the road announced that he was selling his tonight. I looked at Manda and she said "Get it".
.
So now I have a few things to sell - A Marshall triple super lead head, a Marshall valvestate combo and a Bare Knuckle Riff-Raff pickup!

I have one of those... Nice amps.
Re: NAD! Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus
I gigged it a lot years back and it needs a bit of work now but I always got a sound I liked out of it. Especially with humbuckers. As you say they were very popular in the 80's -90's. I think one thing I liked was that it was very loud and clear for what was then quite a compact and light amp.. Its been a while since I even cranked it on so I'd be interested in you thoughts on it against todays amps.

I used to gig the Peavey rip-off of it for a lot of years. Solid-state but I loved that amp. The JC120 weighs a ton!muttley wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2018 4:37 pm I gigged it a lot years back and it needs a bit of work now but I always got a sound I liked out of it. Especially with humbuckers. Yeh it's heavy but back in the 80's I had amp rigs twice that weight...
These days it has to be amp in hand and guitar in the other... I'm getting old.

Cool! You looking to play some James Hetfield clean tones?
Re: NAD! Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus
They were IT for a while. Would this be a Magazine related purchase?
Cheers

Kind of - it's a John McGeoch related purchase. He used one of these and a JMP 2203 (some say JCM800) combo, switching between them and having an MXR flanger stand-mounted at waist height.

Naturally, JD goes to Hetfield.
Cool amp. Probably the best SS combo ever made. Congrats!

Figured.
He was a real effects nerd, judging by his sound, and needed a great platform for them.
With a triple spring reverb, vibrato, chorus & distortion on board he was ahead of the game.
Do you have a manual? I can flick one your way in a mo if needed.
Cheers

Re: NAD! Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus
Thanks, Miner. These are very much a "Pedal Platform" for a lot of players. It is just so fucking loud and clean! The distortion, if you can call it that is almost non-existent. The most it does really, is give the tone a bit of personality. I'm looking forward to capturing its stereo chorus with dual miking.
And yes, Manda does support everything I do. Within reason!

Nice score Bubba! I've always been curious about those amps. I bet they're famous for a reason.
Re: NAD! Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus
Dude, they're like brutally clean. The cleanest clean there can be. That's their claim to fame. Super clean and nice chorus/flanger effect.

What a nice classic unique amp.
Absolute clean and the built-in distortion is so nasty you'll never use it.
That chorus is amazing sounding though!
And I have to think it's an ideal pedal platform.
Also you can use it to build your upper body strength.
