Better get it right the FIRST time! I would think this could get expensive if you don't.

Isn't this how it was done at the very beginning to wax cylinders, like in 1800-something?

I'd try it....if I gave a fuck about vinyl. The resurgence of vinyl is one trend I just can't find the energy to give a shit about.

"look for the record we cut today to be released next month"

It took you 10 minutes to track, mix, and master it! What's the rest of the delay about?!

Legit, I kind of like Welcome to 1979's work in general it seems like they're lowering the barrier-to-entry into vinyl and and letting people see how the sausage is made.
Granted, the more they promote themselves and get work, they'll get too expensive for average home recorders, but there will be imitators.

The somewhat amusing aspect of all that, considering the Chris Mara/Welcome to 1979 is all about keeping everything analog...is that they have to resort to computer/digital technology to make the remote thing work. :D

Still...it's pretty cool, and they've put it a big effort to resurrect the vinyl thing, along with other aspects of old-school technology.
I had the opportunity to exchnage a few emails with Chris a couple of years ago when I almost bought an MCI console from him (ended up being too big to make the hallway/doorway turns at my place)...he's a real nice guy and totally dedicated to his old-school approach.
