Re: Diffusers
TL;DR: Dont make these QRD diffusors unless you are laid up at home for a week with nothing better to do.
Ok so, my diffusers are rounding the end to completion.
As a final close on my own diffsuion DIY project, the scientific accuracy i was shooting for is probably now gone. The lumber wasn't a true 2x2, it was warped, when i sanded some of the tips it sanded unevenly etc. just a large number of issues with this. Those being most notable. I used mostly good old Canuck Spruce, Hemlock and Cedar. The Cedar smells nice.
Will it diffuse? yes!
Will it look cool?! Sure.
Do i care? No.
Will i ever get all these hours of my life back?! Newp.
But its done.
I think though before i put them up, i have an experiment i am going to do. Our downstairs is in a current state of facelift, so i think for the size of it i am going to paint and give my music lab a facelift too at the same time, and then i will do an acoustic guitar / vocal song before and after i hang my room treatment stuff up. I want ot make basstraps and i have a few other little additions i wanna throw up.
Thats the Plan.
Here's Pictures.

Re: Diffusers
No, no thanks, no way.
Very nice work but I'm not doing that. I'm gonna make the vertical kind.

Re: Diffusers
Looks like you designed it while playing Sims.
I look forward to the before & after.

Re: Diffusers
Looks pretty good. How did you sand them that caused the ends to not be square? I'd like to do this but it does seem like a ton of work. Maybe one day.

Re: Diffusers
Don't do it. It's mind numbing. Find another way.
I used my orbital sander. probably just how i placed it on the tool that caused the uneven sanding job.

Re: Diffusers
Negative. I stained the 2x2 lengths before cutting it all up. and i am just going to leave those as is. I am happy with how it turned out ashtetically. Just bummed out it it didn't quite go together as seamlessly as i had hoped for.Bubba wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2017 1:22 pmBlock plane.WhiskeyJack wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2017 5:01 pm I used my orbital sander. probably just how i placed it on the tool that caused the uneven sanding job.

Re: Diffusers
It's a small single-handed plane with a low angled blade, which makes it good for working on end-grain. And plywood.
