Ah, I like the feel of it against the curve of my hand between my thumb and first finger and I press my thumb against it sometimes.
I agree that any increase in strength is probably pretty marginal.
Red LP Special should be arriving tomorrow

I have volutes on three Gibsons and all of the Mosrites. I never feel it. Don't even know it's there. I'm a thumb-over rock and roller guy.
Awesome!Red LP Special should be arriving tomorrow
I usually play an F chord with my thumb over the top, and even when I play an F barre chord the normal way my thumb is pressed into the volute.
That's one of the amazing things about my new to me 73. The wood does match! It's a two piece flamed top that matches and the seam is centered and that alone is pretty rare from 70s Gibsons.
Is is really nice, the gold looks like its aged enough so its not too gaudy. The back of the neck looks well played in too, I bet that's comfy.
It's pretty smooth. The guitar came to life with a good cleaning and freshening up. It had been sitting unused for about 25 years.
Like my '65 reissue Mustang. I thought I was gonna catch botulism when I was cleaning it. I think I posted pics at the time - it was grim.
the only solid body electric guitar even made in '51 was a tele although not called a tele .... it was called the Broadcaster.
Good point - well made.
haha, its just something that I wouldn't even notice.
Sept of '51 was when they settled on the name Telecaster .... not sure when those actually made it to the market or how many did that year.
