Care to A/B these for me? New EQ on lead vocal...
I'm playing around with a new EQ on the lead vocal, instead of good ol' ReaEQ. So I'm not sure whether I'm liking it better because it's different, or because it is better.
It's more your old style EQ with knobs instead of an infinite number of bands to muck around with, which is probably where I get into trouble.
And one or two presets to use as a starting point.
So, which do you prefer, or does it make no difference at all? Short snippets of the last two toons:
TIA...

The difference seems very subtle to me.
If anything, I think there is more clarity(some might call it harshness) to the A's.
I like the B's a tad better because of that appearance to my ears. The B's just have a more organic feel to me.
Can I be more abstract
Someone else might be able to be more specific about frequencies than me.

B sounds fuller and rounder...probably has more sub 100 in it.
A sound clearer and cuts through the mix better and the bass isn't masked a little by it.

Hmm... interesting. Thanks guys.
I really liked the As when I first set them up - the mixes as they are are the Bs - but now I'm not so sure, seems a bit bright, whilst the Bs are a little muddy and middy to me. Perhaps "the answer" lies somewhere in between.
Incidentally I put the same EQ, different preset obviously, on the snare, but not the overhead - and IMO it lifts the snare a bit out of the mud too. Nothing I probably couldn't do with ReaEQ, but it's more that I didn't think to do it.
Thanks @rayc and @musicturtle.
Will see if anyone else lobs in before I do more tinkering.

I will play along.
Not easy to really hear in this space of mine, but - I say V6EA is the most friendly at the moment.
why? well if my old ears don't lie, it has a little bit more sizzle on the fricatives. which help define the sung words.

A's sounded best to me .... yes the B's were fatter but it came across to me as muddier

I think I like the Bs better. There's a harshness in the upper mids on the As that IMO doesn't work well with your vocal tone. Maybe it's the mic, maybe it's the EQ, maybe it's your voice, but to me whatever is happening on the B mixes is better.

It is pretty subtle.
I'd say that B sounds just a little bit duller. I think I prefer A, but I could see how it comes across as too harsh.

Thanks all - I think, as I said earlier, the answer is somewhere in between - the Bs have a muddiness that's irking me, but when I went back to the A on Pretend yesterday, not having listened for a while, it was like "Ow, my ears..." in terms of harshness. Seems to depend on the song as well.
Lesson learnt. Thanks for playing.

Only just got around to this Armi - as others have said. Its pretty subtle but there's a slight harhsness on A that you can probably dial back.
