Vintage Vox Entertainer

Post by musicturtle »

Hey,

A friend of mine is running an estate sale for someone. She sent me a photo of this guitar. Anyone familiar with it or how much it might go for?

As far as I can tell, it's a mid-60s Vox Serenader. I can only find a couple that are for sale or have sold. The couple that are currently on Reverb are apparently priced way too high. One guy listed his for $1000 a year ago and had reduced the price to $672 and it still hasn't sold. Another is listed for $850 but only a couple of weeks ago, with a Frankenstein bolted-on bridge...no offers.

Reverb doesn't have a price guide entry for it, so that's no help.

I see that Guitar Center sold one in "great" condition for $200 at some point, but it doesn't say when, and no pictures to see what they consider "great".

This catalog page says that they originally sold for about $55 in 1965, which adjusts to today's dollars as just under $500. http://www.voxshowroom.com/us/guitar/seren.html

I’d say get it for yourself for a very small amount of money.
