Gig at the Waldorf Astoria .....

Post by Lt. Bob »

:mad3:

Wish I had turned it down.

New Years Eve ..... $500 ..... that's why I took it.
but it's over near Disney and these snooty places are always a PIA with all sorts of rules ....
Load in is always a PIA because they don't want the guests eyes contaminated by your ugliness so you have to go 50 miles thru service corridors and then park on the other side of the moon.

Fucking stupid well-paying gig!

NYE gigs are the worst and I wont do them any more. When I negotiated the band gigs we would be minimum 200 quid a man and that was back in the 90's. You play all night while people ignore you then when its time to tear down a load of drunks want you to carry on til the morning cos you must be having sooo much fun. The fucking pits... There was one place we used to play that had us back year on year for a while and it was great because they insisted we get pissed and they helped us break down and stored the stuff over night and sent the stuff back in a Taxi the next day. The crowd were great a mix of all sorts. The guvner was an ex pro musician, that was prolly why he made it worth the effort and the rig always got treated with respect and arrived in tact and on time on Jan 1st....

it's a stepping stone to one of these which will make my load-in SO easy ..... for a sax gig 3 inputs is enough ...... I'll have my speaker, sax and keyboard and that's it!
