Great modern drummers

Post by liv_rong »

I love the stuff these dudes can pull off. Its not just technical show off stuff, it also it suits the music well. Some of you may not like he music, in fact probably none of you will haha, but you'll appreciate the drumming. This is of the heavier side of the music I listen to.

Bloody hell, those guys are good. I've always liked Danny Carey's drumming. He's good but it's also just a really good drum sound. Watched a really cool tutorial about how he does that weird beat when he does a snare roll that sounds like he's slowing down but he's actually keeping time just reducing the number of notes he's putting in each bar.

Yeah he is good too, probably one of the first drummers I notices being a good drummer before I even played the drums.

Here is another one of my favorites:

THE WORLD’S FIRST ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE DRUM APP coming on q1 2017

Those guys basically copied their idea about AI drummers from Jamstix....Which version 4 was due out at the first of this year, & hasn't arrived yet...I was gonna buy it, but since taking up with my e-kit, I don't think I will now....

Too many technically great drummers for me to mention, but I'm getting more into simpler/basic drummers more lately...because I'm trying to learn to play, & the technical guys make me throw my drumsticks down... :minernuggs:

Great drummers are like great guitar players - only lesser drummers and guitar players care about them. Regular people that listen to music couldn't care less.

I'm a lesser drummer and I don't even bother watching good drummers. I can't relate and it doesn't apply to me.

i put you in the same class as that skrillex covers guy i linked, you both beat the shit outta em and mean it ... raw attitude! :D

that skrillex aint my usual taste, watching him play it is \o/

when i see something technical i cant play i watch in awe, rewind a few times .. maybe save a copy for reference .. link it to a few peeps that might be interested then move on ...

a great song played well goes in the car ! :D

Jamstix 3 is ok, it's really deep & complicated though....too many options IMO, if they had "dumbed" it down for quick-n-easy stuff...

There are some cool features like the "pocket", & the timing slider/knob (makes the beats ahead/behind the beat), but in the end, it was just too much shit to fuck with for me...I fooled with it for 2-3 years, & was gonna buy v4 (which was due about 2 months ago), but opted just to learn to play my e-kit for my simple-simon songs...

The "drummers" are another cool thing, a lot of the playing really does sound like the guys they modeled...

I will say the developer & their forum are a lot like the Reaper forum/userbase, the guy really listens to his users & really tries to help 'em out...

That said, I still may buy v4, possibly...

Ray Luzier...

To be honest, I couldn't give 2 fucks about Korn, but this guy is a serious drummer...

Of course, there's Neil Peart (goes without saying), & a few more, but ↑ this guy impressed me...

Jason Bitter from Shadows Fall is pretty amazing. I'm at work and on my phone, so I can't post a video.

Okay, besides the campy cheesy showbiz aspect of the whole act, that's some pretty good "choreography" between the two guys and I know that shit can't be easy to pull off live.

I saw them around this time & the whole sound was big and fast not to mention furious. the minimalist kit & playing was perfect.

I dunno if he counts as modern, but I enjoy watching Stanton Moore just for the funny faces he makes and the way he flails his wrists when he does his fills. :lollers:
