I wear chucks, or Doc martens. thats about it.

no i lie, i have a pair of the vans chukka's reissues they did a couple years ago that i wear when i go out longboarding. Such a comfy ass shoe.

I lied again. I also wear hideous fucking baffin boots if i have to go out in the bush for work. Not stylish or nice to look at but my god it's like walking around with marshamellows on your feet.

I wear regular sneakers 12 months a year, even in -30 weather. But what I do is I always buy 2 pairs of sneakers, same brand but different colors, and different color laces. Then, I wear one color on one foot and another color on the other. Right now, I have a blue sneaker with a red lace on one foot, and a black sneaker with a yellow lace on the other. I know. I'm a fag....but I'm not gay.

My wife is big onto the laces in her chucks. Different colors in different shoes etc.

Me, I can barely tie my own shoes.

Nice, man! Looks like a million bucks.

I need to get some better pickups in my LP. The BB Pros that I put in it are microphonic and need to go away. I thought about wax potting them, but I think I'd rather just get pickups that I like instead!

How does that play now, Greg? I've never played on an old LP. What sort of set up do you have action-wise?

I set it up as close as I could my Goldtop. 12th fret to string is about 1/16".....1.5mm. I actually measured it on the Goldtop and then tweaked the Custom by feel. The intonation is good, neck feels good, the action is good, it's all good. It always played really nice, now it sounds exquisite as well.

What makes this guitar feel different is that it's a Custom. It's not so much age, it's more Custom vs everything else. It's relative uniqueness among Les Pauls is common to all Customs. The ebony fretboard and fretless frets are what makes it feel different from other Les Pauls. The frets are flattened and wide. That's just how Customs are done. It makes you have to play better than you normally can get away with. A bend will choke out if you don't do it well. Get a little sloppy with your chord hand and you'll hear it. Regular medium-jumbo frets standard to all other Les Pauls feel gigantic after spending time on a Custom.

Cheers, I had no idea. I just assumed they were a Les Paul in Fancy Dress.

Mostly, but the frets and fretboard are quite different.

I tried to snap some close ups of the fret differences...

Custom. These are original frets or someone did a masterful job on a re-fret. I think they're original.

My Traditional...and pretty much every other solid-body bound-neck Gibson.

I'm less excited about that than I am disappointed that the matching shoes are gone. :(
